Story

Open from 6.30 7 days a week, including public holidays.

Our aim is to focus on turning great quality locally produced goods into simple fresh café-faire food. Together with a professional standard of coffee and a warm and welcoming service we hope you enjoy what we have to offer.

Owners Rhys Taylor and Alex McVeity have both been involved in the hospitality industry in various guises for over ten years now. Rhys a chef has more recently been working as the owner/operator of a quality Italian establishment in Hawthorn, Melbourne. Alex has for the last 5 years been working as head barista and bar manager of the renown Pantry Café in Brighton Melbourne.

The service was fast, drinks were good. Food was very fact looking and had great flavour combos. They were adaptable with the breakfast menu too allowing for changes and individually designed meals. The southern fried chicken and Waffles tasted amazing but the waffles were very small considering the price we paid.
Ambient setting with great welcoming service and amazing food. A strong piccolo latte to wake you up instantly and oh super delicious chicken and waffles and eggs Benedict. They have beautiful freshly squeezed orange juice and accommodated a smoothie request kindly.
Lovely smile upon arrival, super quick to a table and promptly greeted with yet another smile to take our order. Please don’t lose this! Coffee was great, so too were the eggs Benedict. I was delighted by my experience.
Very friendly efficient service. Food was served promptly hot and very tasty. Happy to make substitutions. Nothing seemed too much bother. Waitress was excellent. A nice place for a breakfast

Hubby and I have mixed feeliings about Laneway Cafe. It's difficult to find using google, however the ambience is interesting being a cross between electic and bohemian and a comfy atmosphere. Hubby ordered deconstructed eggs and bacon. It was ok. I ordered waffles, bacon, maple syrup and haloumi which was tasty but very rich. Something I would only order once a year. Coffee is good. In relation to value for money, this is a 3 star cafe charging 5 star prices.
Where you say? Located in a busy little laneway, this uniquely different setting promises something different where the decor is a eclectic mix of art and history. The menu has a wide selection of options which the Laneway Chef and staff are more than happy to modify on request. The ‘Eggs Benedict’ with additions of ham & avocado and my eggs and requested soft bacon with relish did not disappoint. Coffee provided the enjoyment which l have come to expect, ordering a 2nd is a good indicator of quality. Although the lemon lime & bitters did not turn up until prompted a 2nd time the staff were very friendly and accommodating which more than make up for the error. 4 stars today.
The cafe is hidden inside a laneway... and perhaps thats how they got their name haha, with extraordinary great vibes! Coffee was ok and they offer a great variety of breakfast/brunch/lunch options. The best thing about this cafe is probably their super friendly staff. I love how helpful and attentive their staff are, great vibes too. The service is quick, and they are very accommodating to special requests too. I came on a Saturday morning and it's veryyy busy. It's a cafe good for catch up and meeting up with friends.
Some of the best food I've ever eaten. The vibe was nice and friendly and the staff were welcoming and accommodating. The portions were large and good quality and service fast.
Great little spot with a nice vibe and lovely staff. Good vegan menu available as well!
