Lake Hawea Hotel

Excellent place to make home for however long you need. So close to local shops. Very clean and comfortable. The room is equipped with everything you'll need. Management are welcoming, helpful and pleasant to deal with. I will make a point of staying here (but for longer than just a couple of nights), next time we visit NZ.

Beautiful location but the main rooms in the hotel suffer from old carpet and a stale smell in the bathrooms. Probably something wrong with the plumbing. The view from the balcony makes up for it though. The attached restaurant was excellent though. The chicken curry was excellent and the desert was good too (affogato) . The room carpets likely need to be redone and bathroom plumbing improved for it to be better rated . Beds were comfortable and rooms were huge though

There's only one stove with four hobs on it, for the entire hall of travelers. This unfortunately cause a lot of wait time. This place was great though, the rooms were neat and clean, the beds comfortable. The bathroom is okay, showerstalls splash into the toilet stalls unfortunately.

Stayed one night at the campground of hawea hotel. Was not bad but it was very packed and you only got a old but very hot shower and a not working wifi for your price. But you also get specials at the bar as a camper the beer is cheep but not the food.

There is a Hotel and there's a Hostel, so be aware of that. Very nice staff, discounts at the bar if you are staying in a hostel as we did, amazing view over the lake. The price.. the cheapest place I stayed in NZ. Kitchen and bathroom are a mess though! I literally felt dirty getting out of the shower. Kitchen needs some management. I know It is up to the backpackers to clean after themselves, but it is not encouraged like in the other places.
