My meal was the chicken and bacon pasta, and it was exactly as I hoped it would be! The service was very friendly and informative about meal options. I highly recommend this restaurant! Everyone in our party loved their meals and couldn't find fault with their meals. Don't be fooled by the simple decor, this place deserves it's 4.6 out of 5 rating!
My partner and I dined at Kassaba on a Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and visit to this restaurant. We had the 3 course banquet for their special early bird price of $60 for 2 people. This included a generous selection of breads and entrees plus a tasty bowl of coconut mussels. Then the main platter came with a great choice of vegetarian food and salad plus some mouth watering meatballs and chicken. The banquet also allows unlimited top ups on the food you really couldn't get enough of the first time around so we couldn't knock that back and enjoyed a another serve of mussels, meatballs and chicken. Our dessert choice was baklava, very yummy and not over the top pure sugar. Our host was Upe and she was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. Her table and front of house service was consistently excellent. If I owned a restaurant I'd hire her straight away and never let her go!
Dropped in for a spot of lunch while on the road and can’t recommend this place enough. We had the stuffed vine leaves, falafel, stuffed mushrooms and mixed dips with breads. All excellent. The service was fantastic, the server was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. She was also very attentive. Easy 5 stars.
While the wait staff were really kind, I am sorry to say I was incredibly disappointed with my meal. I ordered the Donor kebab chicken Marinated slices of chicken served with rice, salad, yoghurt & pita bread as per the menu. My husband and I specifically asked for the chicken to be well cooked and the salad fresh and clean because I'm pregnant. The meat was fine and well cooked, but the salad looked so old that if it was in my fridge it would have been thrown out. Not good enough for anyone, let alone someone who is pregnant.When explained to the staff they were apologetic, which is nice. However, we were still charged the full price. When the bill was queried, the staff said that it was because I had been given extra salad which was subsequently removed from the bill apparently. I did not ask for extra salad and there was a very small portion of salad which came with the kebab, as per the menu. Its disappointing because there were so many good reviews online. In the future all salad should be fresh and if this cant be achieved this should be explained to the patron to avoid such confusion/dissapointment.
My self and my family went to see the beautiful lake Taupo, we saw this Mediterranean restaurant for lunch it was only 12 dollars. KASSABA, It was really worth it. I had Feast of Greek and my husband had a vegetarian delight, my mother had beautiful mango chicken. The Kids menu is very reasonable for only 8.50 Nzd. Delicious food such good prices definitely will be back for the dinner as well. A very good Vegan options Kassaba has. Loved it
An unexpected delight - very tender meat, generous kids’ meal, and pleasant atmosphere. The real highlight was friendly service, we were chatting with our waitress about how they are looking for a bellydancer - I hope they find one, it would be the cherry on top! It’s rare to find sit-down Mediterranean food in NZ for some reason, but this is the real deal.
Restaurant is awesome friendly staff with best delivered service food is simply tasty. Best recommended dish is backed chicken with mashed kumra. Bar is also nice with multiple beverage option. Talking about price it’s not so expensive. Best delivered food with quality in affordable price .
I tried to give this place a shot. The girl waiter was very nice but apart from that... very disappointing. The food tasted like they just unfroze it and tossed it in a pan or microwave. The chicken was so chewy, I could barely get through the meal. Then I just wanted to wash it down with water but the cup I had was so dirty I couldn’t use it. And apart from that it sounded like the cook was yelling at the waitress. I would never suggest this to my friends or family just from the off chance you might get food poisoning.
We tried the mezze platter for lunch and it was okay. The hummus and falafel were dry and did not taste fresh. The grape leaves were good. Perhaps the positive reviews are because of the kebabs and other dishes.
We had a great time at Kassaba, for start we order deep fried mushroom I had lamb shank And my partner had Morocco Mango chicken for mains Food was so yummy & presentable. And service was awesome we will be back Highly recommend to other
