Wow! Life affirming….we had the most amazing one night on Kapiti!nWhat a fabulous experience - lively lady checking us in, a gent checked out luggage for “pests” and a great crew on the boat over.nWe loved the walk…which was preceded by a chat from the guide on what we might see!nWe then went to the island lodge for our overnight - where we were welcomed and show our accommodation. We had a twin bed cabin - cosy, clean and super comfy beds!nShowers and loos - shared and immaculate - hot water too!nFood was delicious - red snapper in a coconut curry sauce.nKiwi and penguin spotting after dinner….just brilliant….lots of bush noise but the kiwi remained elusive!nOne of the best experiences ever - th am you for sharing your home! And your knowledge!
We had such an amazing time going to Kapiti ans discovering the island, the birds and the seashells. We loved the little information speech from our guide at the beginning, and the self guided walk was very nice. One of the highlights of my trip in NZ!
This is a fantastic tour even in the rain! We went a couple weeks ago, with Pania and Linda who were excellent hosts. The food was delicious The glamping tents were very nice and the beds are super comfortable. The sound of the rain on the tent at night and the dawn chorus of bird sounds was something to be remembered and treasured always. Linda took us on the night walk and we spotted a little kiwi which was exciting!
This event was a blast. The driver from Wellington, Nathan, was awesome. It was great talking with him all the way to Kapiti and back. Very nice young man! The boat trip to and from Kapiti was like it's own event all by itself. That was just a blast. And the people...so helpful and fun!! The guides on Kapiti Island were so great. I had so many questions and they just kept answering them one after another. It was just fascinating and so interesting to learn more about the Maori people!! We did the hike loop and enjoyed the scenery and saw several birds along the way. Soooo cool!!! Lunch was incredible!! I don't know how that one lovely woman was able to make all that food AND a hot dessert for all of us. It was completely delicious!!! Such a fantastic event!! We wish we would have had time to spend the night on Kapiti Island and some more time in the city itself.
We had a fabulous day trip to Kapiti Island. Everyone involved was super friendly, knowledgeable and clearly very passionate and proud of this special place. We saw lots of birds. Loved spending time at the hihi feeder. Would definitely recommend.
