Vibrant and nicely adorned Asian themed outlet along the bustling food street of South Bank. Food is an intriguing fusion of the styles of Asia, with pork belly and buns and satay. Seasoning leans towards the sweet. Staff are attentive and everything is well presented. Pricing is reasonable but serving size is a little wanting. Plenty of options to drink as well!
Junk in South Bank is a fun little place - bringing together a fusion of different flavours from across South East Asia! From Chinese dumplings to Thai Beef Salad, satay to Korean style deep fried chicken! It really is awesome! The staff are chilled, friendly and nice - and you always feel welcome! South Ann really does have some great places - and this works for a casual dinner or lunch as well as something a bit more formal! I would give it 5 stars but some dishes are just a touch too oily... and if you do not feel like that, your choices become limited! Love this place!
I keep seeing ads for their Wingin' It Wednesday $18 all you can eat wings special, and when I finally decide to go with a group of friends, they run out of wings! Myself and one other friend were the first to arrive for our booking, and we decided to get started on the wings. We were then informed that the kitchen was running low on wings and whilst the two of us could still do the AYCE wings offer, they would not be able to do so for the rest of our group. The flavours on offer change weekly; on this day they were Honey Soy, Chilli Jam and Salt & Pepper. You get a plate of 6 wings 2 of each flavour to start, and request top-ups additional plates as desired until you tap out. I don't mind starting with the mixture but would have liked the ability to tailor the mix for subsequent serves, though I didn't have a clear favourite out of the options available. I thought they were all passable, but don't compare to my preference for Korean-style wings. For a few dollars more I can go AYCE at a number of places that offer KFC any night of the week and in whatever flavour combinations you desire, so I won't be returning for this wings deal. Also not sure whether I'll return for the regular menu - the others in my group ordered a few dishes to share and the general consensus is that the it's pricey for the portions received though the flavours are good.
Absolutely love this place. Went twice in two days. The calamari was so tender, it nearly melted in your mouth. The caramel coconut sauce sounded weird but was a flavour revelation. Also try the Junk Fries. So good. Will be back next time I visit Brisbane.
One of my favourite trusted spots to take our overseas visitors. It's got the right combination of high energy offset with a relaxed, cosy low key vibe. I particularly love their decor and the bar area, the staff are always very friendly and happy, and the food is outstanding. My favourite dish is the Crispy Pork Belly, trust me, you will dream about it for days!
Was part of a huge group and really impressed with the effort of staff to get round to everyone to check on drinks and orders. The food was exceptional and if I lived in Brisbane I'd definitely be making an effort to come back. Monteiths on tap was a bonus!
Funky little place on South Bank, reasonably priced food & super friendly service. Both dishes Thai Beef Salad + Beef Ramen Bowl where tasty, a few pieces of beef were a little chewy..but overall the lunch was Oh they also have their own app which gives you a $20 welcome credit - how cool
Fusion restaurant. Similar to Kwan brothers. I like the wooden tables and chairs with the back rests - it reminds me of Asia and I can see that there has been much care put into the aesthetics of the food. However, the tiny portion of Pho still had both of us hungry after ordering it. What I didn't enjoy the most was that the soup was luke warm at best, with cold elements in it such as the egg and beef! It's hard to swallow cold eggs and luke warm soup despite it being in a nice setting. Would probably come back to try other things but hoping they can fix the basic bowl of Pho.
Wow! Talk about tasty street food! Dined here with 16 people this evening. The food came out so quick and tasted bloody great! Ambience is trendy and upbeat and prices are really decent considered the slop others along the strip are charging. As for staff, the Irish lady was great....the others were ok. Also...its not table service fyi. So you need to order and collect booze at the bar.
Fantastic service and atmosphere. Everyone was under the pump as it was a very busy night. But these guys were great. Meal was out to us in under 10 mins. Price was cheap for the quality of the food. Highly recommend....
