Would have enjoyed this place so much more if I didn't have to hear the band from its attacked venue. People streamed in and out constantly leaving the inner door open. The music permeated like constant noise pollution into the small eclectic bar area. A real shame. Would have liked to have stayed longer. My partner had been multiple times prior to the new owner taking over. If you are going to have live bands, something really needs to change for the other patronage to be able to enjoy a conversation and some cocktails which were really top notch.
It’s really nice to a “ local “ just down the road and for Ashgrovians the Junk bar is exactly that!nIt been here since about 2010 and I have enjoyed many visits! It’s somewhat quirky with 1970 s photography wallpaper of wild Canadian wilderness! It is amazing how many people that can comfortably fit in such a small place !nA good range of drinks is available although there’s no Kitchen staff are happy to fetch you a pizza from across the streetnMy favourite drink is a cocktail called the junk cherrynIt is made with Cointreau Vodka Cambord and cream topped with a cherry ! It tasted like a Black Forest cake! Occasionally local band scans artist s perform in an adjoining performance space .it has room for 30 -40nIt is easier to find now it has a bright sign on the awning, for many years there was no exterior advertisement advising it’s location!
Closing time is apparently at 11pm on the night I visited but when I visited at 10pm the staff had decided to close bar early and the only thing they could offer me was a “sorry” and a shrug.nnI guess the next time I feel like dropping in for a late quiet drink I’ll be doing it somewhere else.
Absolutely love this cosy bar! Perfect spot for drinks with friends, the music is fantastic, and the atmosphere is just right.nFive stars all the way!
Omg what a smashing space this is! Delightfully intimate, it reminds me of gigs at Woodford Folk Festival.. loved seeing Monique Clare and Sam Buckingham tonight! Both brilliant in their own rights. Will definitely go again..
