I've been going to Dan's restaurants for a number of years and didn't try this place until he re-introduced the savoury menu. Had the Texas Joe Burger which is a burger with chili in it. It was delicious to say the least. The spicy chili complemented the slightly sweet bun. The bonus was the hot and crispy fries that come on the side.
Excited by the concept, my wife and I travelled out of our way to visit. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment. The dough served in cones was mushy - perhaps a practical requirement for scooping - and not very much like the dough you sneak a nibble of while baking cookies. Neither of us finished our cones as we started to feel sick from the sweetness.
Unfortunately a rather disappointing experience. Visited Joe Dough after seeing an exciting video of the doughlicious cookie dough on Facebook and sadly the dough and shop atmosphere did not live up to the expectations. I tried 2 flavours: Choc chip was quite nice and smooth and birthday cake which was a lot harder in texture like cookie crumbs not an enjoyable texture. The dough was surprisingly warm in temperature and I was left with an ice cream craving to satisfy elsewhere even though I couldn't take anymore sugar considering how over-sweet the dough was. If you love cookie dough, definitely try it but one time was enough for me.
After seeing Joe Dough in the Sydney Morning Herald, and realising that I'm off to Sydney that weekend, I thought to go over to Kings Cross and try it out. Unfortunately the experience was quite underwhelming. When I got there at around quarter past five on a Saturday evening, I found that the range of cookie doughs available was lower than the already limited selection. As well as that, the staff experience left a lot to be desired. The person I spoke to didn't seem to want to be there, and didn't make much of an effort to talk to me either. However, the one thing that gives this place three stars has got to be the unique taste of cookie dough. Although it has a slight aftertaste, I do recommend trying it. Just come earlier in the day.
I was very excited to try the cookie dough and travelled far to get to joe doughs. Unfortunately it wasn't all it's made out to be at all. It was very sweet and very warm. There was no atmosphere, the shop was hot and the lady serving was rude. My friend and I didn't even finish half of out cookie dough. very disappointed.
Doughnuts are delicious. My favourite is definitely the custard filled doughnuts. American coffee was nice but if that is not to your taste, the barista can make you any coffee you desire and it's delicious.
The best donuts in Sydney, and cookie dough!
Doughnuts are insanely good, staff are lovely, highly recommend. All of this chef's food endeavors are amazing whether sweet or savoury.
Their scoops of the various flavours of cookie dough take you back to the good 'ol days. Such amazing sugary sweetness and pretty sociable staff.
The doughnuts were extremely oily, the cookie dough tasted pretty average, staff seemed kinda out of it, and it is kinda pricey. Not the the worst but overall, not the best experience
