The doughnuts looked like they were dumped on top of each other, really not appealing, and extremely expensive for what you get. The service was awful, unpleasant attitude by the cashier. I will not be back there again.
We had brunch here. The food was delicious and very fresh with a big choice of dairy and parev foods and drinks. Service was good. Would definitely recommend for breakfast or lunch . Shame it closes early or we would have come for dinner too!
Very disappointing. $5.00 for a plain jam doughnut and they’re presented in an appalling fashion with many squished - if I could post a photo here I certainly would. When we pointed this out to the waitress, that the doughnuts are so costly yet presented so badly the response was: “Nobody is asking you to buy here” Talk about impertinent service. Sad to say, but will not be returning to this place nor supporting them. Also, post renovation they look like they have even less seating room than before. Not the sort of place to comfortably come, sit down and have a meal. Cramped, pricey, mediocre with some rude service to top it off. Not recommended at all.
Best kosher place in the whole of Sydney. We went there for breakfast and the food and customer service was amazing. Definitely would go there again 10/10 place.
Best donuts ever! Custard ones had so much filling and the service was friendly and accommodating even though they were so incredibly busy
All the boisterous brilliance of a classic Jewish bakery - half high traffic, half quiet corner - Jesse’s harkens to all the best Jewish fare! Great kosher food with quick service if you’re dining in, and a massive selection of baked goods, including challah of all varieties: gluten free, sugar free, single portion and vegan! Jesse’s is exactly what you hope for from a community café and bakery. Friday’s heavy customer traffic immediately indicates you’re in a beloved venue. The bakery can be charmingly shambolic, but you’ll be well taken care of by staff. Zip through the opening to the quieter café side for a great place to work or calmly catch up with friends. A big menu makes choosing a little difficult, though you’re in luck with standard Israeli favourites like shashuka matches against traditional Aussie fare like eggs Benedict and Thai salads. The food comes out piping hot and in big portions. The coffee hits the mark, as well the smoothies on offer - ideal if you’re pondering your thoughts a little more heavily. Go here for a classic Jewish community experience and delight in flavours that will make you hope for an invitation to the rabbi’s table for shabbaz!
Weak teeth? False teeth? No teeth? This may not be your doughnut. It's tough. How tough? It's the sort of doughnut a rabbi would eat with a knife and fork, and struggle.. or maybe he'd ask for it to be sliced like pastrami. Whichever way, these puppies give your jaw a work out. But I think they're worth it. Barely sweet in themselves, they let the icing take you to coma-ville. All up, I can't wait to walk 10km to be worthy of another dose...while I still have all my teeth.
Bought sweet raisin Challah for Rosh Hashanah. What a disappointment. Cotton wool has more consistency and taste than this bread. The type of bread that squishes down into mush when you try and cut a slice or tear a piece. A French bakery ought to be able to bake a decent bread.
I rocked up to Jesse's bakery without much of a clue to what I would find aside from a cinnamon Bubka which I had ordered online. It's a large type of cinnamon scroll that is fantastic. The cafe itself is very old school and bustling even on a weekday after lunch. Once I realised I hadn't seen anything of the sort before I had to stay and eat. It's a Jewish bakery so I thought I should try the Israeli Breakfast which you can see in the photos. Very simple fare but a good wholesome start to the day. The coffee was quite like my homebrew, rough and strong so it suited me. Shoutout to the wonderful barista who also patiently negotiated a tricky elderly customer who repeated changed her mind & orders.
Great place! Always delicious and filling! Go there very often and even do delivery!
