Went here for ANZAC day lunch. They messed up our order and over charged us. They put chicken salt on the chips when we specifically asked for no chicken salt. They took 40+ to bring out our meals (2 salads, 2 chips, 1 roast veg side and 1 fish and chips). The chips were average, the roast veg was undercooked, although the salad and fish was alright. I asked for cutlery, as I didn't have any, and I was never brought any. To summarise, terrible service and average food. Won't be coming back.

Downstairs at lunchtime it's a scruffy place, with Irish memorabilia on the walls and a feeling that it's been here in this incarnation, with these rugby shirts on the wall, for some time. However, scruffiness isn't a bad thing, and this place would be less good if it were perfect inside. The Guinness is in excellent condition (somehow) and for a taste of Ireland you can't go far wrong.

I know this is a popular place and as it's normally crowded I figured it must be good, so tried it one night after work (Jan 2018) for drinks and dinner. I was bitterly disappointed. The wine list is not very extensive (yes, I know it's predominantly a beer place, but given it's 2018 most decent pubs today offer a reasonable wine list), and for the price I paid for a small glass of wine, I'm better off paying a lot more for a bigger glass of decent wine elsewhere. Then it came to the bangers and mash. Perhaps the chef's taste buds are not working properly - this was SO salty I got through an entire litre of water while trying to eat the meal. We had already ordered our meal and were half way through our drinks when we were asked to move as a band was about to set up where we were sitting. Geez, why not just cordon off the area beforehand instead of having to relocate people and inconvenience them? My friend enjoyed his beer and beef and guinness pie, and the decor is quite nice. It's these two latter points that encouraged me to give 2 stars. Sadly I won't be back. I reckon unless you're a beer lover, and you're not too fussy about your food, then go for it. Otherwise just try elsewhere.

Nice pub, reasonably priced and the live music was pretty good. Nice spot on the balcony in the daytime too.
