It's not the best experience. For a 3 hours trip we spent in the overall process 6 hours... Too much time ! Boarding was slow, with a long wait period, and it was the same to exit the boat. The only good thing was the amazing views from the fjords before entering the open sea in Cook Strait. The services inside the ship were ok, and a nice top deck where the kitchen smell made it difficult to take.
Lined up in lanes wasn't a long wait. Very efficient to get onboard and park.nHad a cabin which was great. Food was really nice. Sailing was smooth. The crew were doing their training.

Outstanding service, friendly professional staff and surprisingly modern and totally adequate interor areas. Licenced cafetarias and premium options for travellers that want high end comfort the Kaiarahi was a very pleasnt experience all round. Both from a passenger perspective and also the return trip to relocate a coach the staff and entire operation were faultless. Excellent!!
Great trip, we moved our sailing a day forward as bad weather expected,seamless change,all very helpful,check in marvellous all the staff very friendly...The boats are old but the staff carry it through being nice, Aretere packed, forgived lunch but then the Scone o'clock arrived,too tempting, again with excellent friendly banter...bless you all Interislander staff you do a superb job keeping these tubs afloat. Thank you
