The woman who I felt with today was very helpful, she listened carefully to my concern and agreed to take it to her manager when we became stuck, I left with a resolution to my issue . I was impressed with the service on this occasion.
We all have to pay income tax. I consider they change the paper work unessarily .nHowever l find staff extremely helpful as an elderly person. Their assistance is very much appreciated.
The staff are great, but the system is pretty bad. They have worked hard to reduce wait times and are now much more reasonable 4-7mins this morning. We may not like the system, but they are trying unlike many other govt depts.nnOriginal review - Don't bother wasting 15 mins filling in your info on the phone, because they no longer answer them! How do you get in touch you ask? Good question! Only government departments can operate like this.nnOriginal EDIT- After several attempts at the above meeting futility, I made an official complaint. I got a call back within 15mins and was able to speak to some lovely helpful people! The 3 people I spoke to understood my frustration and apologized. They then helped me with everything. So people are there, but you have to really lose it before you can get help. Just remember - don't shoot the messenger. The system is failing, not the staff doing the work.
The human interface of the Inland Revenue phone number is possibly the second worst in the country. The worst belongs to Novopay. However Inland Revenue's Palmerston North office is the pearl among the sewerage. They are cheerful, patient, considerate, and will go to any lengths to help you.nYou are treated as a valued client, you are respected and you actually leave the place feeling good. They are an example of what customer service should be.nWell done folks. Thank you very much for your help.
So it would appear that I am a little “out of the ordinary” because I cannot praise IRD enough for the incredible assistance they gave me while trying to sort out a very serious issue for a family member who had been the unwitting victim of a person who purported to know how to file tax information and returns, but who failed to do so, resulting in massive fines and penalties. I could not fault the staff or IRD, even though I got a different person every time I called probably no less that 10 times, the system ensured that the person could see exactly what the issue was I was dealing with and so just picked up where the last person left off. I would never have believed that IRD could be so obliging and so enabling. By being completely upfront with the Department, all penalties and interest was credited off the debt - well done IRD, I couldn’t have sorted the mess with out your patience and help. Your staff in the call centre deserve a pat on the back for their professional manner and helpful advice.
