Initially, I was the only person eating. The waitress was very pleasant and took my order quickly and I received it very quickly. The poppadoms were from a packet and my main meal, which arrived at the same time as the poppadoms, was like good supermarket Indian food. It was a very reasonable price so there were no complaints. Just don't expect top Indian cuisine. I don't know if the fact I'm from England where we are spoilt for choice with Indian restaurants that my review is such?
Not a great experience when the poppadoms are the best thing we ate. Chicken tikka … not sure which part of the chicken it was . Onion bhargi & rice quite nice . Madras not much flavour & garlic naan looked like it had just been brushed over with melted butter…. no garlic flavour
Tried chicken biriyani. - no taste whatsoever - next morning the whole family ended up in the toilet from early morning. Worst Indian experience ever
Ordered special sizzler starter hir. Meat was not so tasty, just added red chilli powder and heated. It. Roti was good but not paneer masala.

Our dine in experience was not very good. Poor managed restaurant, staff focused more on the take away customers then on seated staff. Mains took about 2 hours to come out. Food was delicious so we would advise people to do a take away order. I think next time we would try the other indian restaurants in town. I would advise management to have someone focus on seated staff, someone else focus on calls and takeaway customers, be more prepared with food, possibly give something on the table at the start so people aren’t starving. The whole process needs to be way more efficient.
Food was tasty however the venue is terribly managed. Had our booking times changed on numerous occasions. Waited over 2 hours for our mains to arrive. Waiting staff were too busy taking on more phone orders and takeaway customers to pay attention to seated customers. Had to ask for drinks to be brought to table after being seated for 40 minutes. I would only recommend this place if you order over the phone in advance and allow plenty of time for preparation. Perhaps call to ensure its actually ready before making the trip out.
Fabulous Indian food. Sizzling Platter excellent.
We.are in Warrnambool for the Carnival. We wanted a good Indian meal and we’re all surprised by the quality of India Gate. The sample plate entree was an instant winner. The food was not too spicy and we all had an enjoyable time. We will be back.
We ordered sizzling platter, chicken madras and pappadum. Everything was good. Lamb cutlets were extremely delicious. Also order cheesy nan and butter naan. Cheesy nan was tasty! We were dining in and were on time so it took 30 minutes for our order to arrive but I could see people waiting for long hours who were there for pickup.
