This is hands down the best IGA I've ever been to. Must admit I don't really shop at IGA very often because they don't usually have a big range, and it's generally more expensive compared to going to Coles or Woollies. This particular one, however, has a delicatessen, meat department, bakery, dairy/ freezer, health and bulk foods and international section. They should consider adding 'Super' in front of the name because it is really big & has a wide range. I stopped in to grab lunch today & there was ample parking outside. I was overwhelmed by the huge selection. I grabbed a poke bowl for $12 and 1L of freshly squeezed orange juice for $6. The prices were very reasonable considering the quality. It wasn't hard making a healthy choice as there was so much on offer & everything looked fresh. It's a shame I don't live around here. Will try to stop in next time I am out this way.
As a recent addition to the Gold Coast food scene, IGA Queen St. Village has to be seen to be believed. A bright and airy store provides a wide range of excellent quality products for your convenience. From fresh fruit and vegetables to a quality butcher, not to forget the bakery, cheese selection, fresh fish canned goods, ready meals and much more, this store can provide your every need. Top marks.
Ordered a coffee at the kitchen bar on Friday afternoon from Natasha and waited for ages before even being acknowledged. Once received it was warm and cup not even full. Every other day perfect service.
While we live in the Hinterland, whenever we are near Southport we will use the IGA. The freshness of fruit and veggies sparkles, the selection of deli products and cheeses to die for. Staff at the checkout just terrific. It is a pity that the last two times we have been, that the deli ladies ignored us waited calmly quite some minutes or were quite truculent in their dealings with us. Today I felt as if my parcel of Noosa ham was almost thrown at me. I would have preferred to stay to purchase other items, but was really put off by the behaviours.
I recently purchased a pack of beef mince, and it was, without a doubt, the worst I have ever had. The mince was full of fat, with several large chunks of fat mixed in. As I cooked it, an excessive amount of oil rendered out, which I had to painstakingly remove with a spoon. The experience was gross and extremely disappointing. I expected quality beef mince, but instead, I got a fatty, oily mess. I won't be buying this product again and would not recommend it to anyone looking for decent quality mince.
