A hip funky Japanese restaurant in the heart up upbeat Brunswick. A place you defiantly want to go to with friends and family. The venue itself has such a upbeat vibe that guarantees a good start to your night. A menu to temp all tastebuds matched with a great selection of drinks. Grab a bit of everything and share between all. A venue where food really does bring everyone together. Makes sure to make a booking and it is a busy venue. Oh the service is great to. Enjoy
Service was by the waiters at this Izakaya. We were celebrating a birthday and they helped to nicely plate the cakes and even gave a sparkler. They also helped to change our plates after meal for the serving of cake. The food was impressive as well both the raw and cooked food. Will highly recommend everyone to come! You can also make request for where you’d like to sit indoor/ outdoor/ or indoor with glass roof etc. when making booking.
We had amazing dinner today at Ichi ni Nana. This is out first time here and we enjoyed the food so much. I love the ambience too. With an open area at the back. We will definitely come back and try the other items in the menu.
tried a few dishes and the service was great. The food was average but the ambiance was lively and chill. The cocktail were slightly too sweet and the rice was slightly overcooked whilst the dessert were somewhat plain. The lamb ribs were so flavoursome and tender but overall the price was slightly on the pricier end. Perhaps we didnt order the right dishes.
Came here with friend last night, for dinner. Was excited with the truffle menu-$75 per person. 5- courses menu- all with very generous shave of truffle! Snapper with chocolate + truffle Beef carpaccio with mushroom Pasta Steak Dessert Food is ok, not amazing it’s normal and quite blend really. The fish with chocolates I think it’s quite weird. Overall only two starts as the food is so so, great vibe and renovation. I think it’s more a pizza place instead. Not sure I will come back for the food.
I have been told by so many to check out this restaurant and it was absolutely amazing. Every single dish was on point. Some of my favourite dishes were the okonomiyaki and the beef curry. The curry was rich in flavour and the beef was cooked perfectly. Meanwhile the okonomiyaki was as good as the ones I have had in Japan and one of the best in Melbourne. If you ever visit this restaurant the portions are larger than other restaurants so order few dishes first and then order somemore if you are still hungry we over ordered and ended up eating up everything until we couldn't move. Vegetarian options: There are few vegetarian options which is great if you go in a group. Parking: Since it is street parking rock up 15 minutes early as it can be hard to find one during busy hours. Dietary restrictions: They are accommodating to dietary requirements where possible. Call the restaurant to advise them about it.
We had the set menu that was offered. This place does amazing food. Each dish had a unique flavour that provided an adventure in your tastebuds. There was a lot of food for a set menu. I would highly recommend this place and would love to try their other dishes!
Neither the best, nor the worst. The service is good, the vibe is cool but the food is meh. The best dish I had was the karaage chicken. The skewers were overcooked and a bit on the chewy side. The sashimi was average and so was the agedashi tofu. Okay if you're looking for a spot to grab a few drinks as well, but I won't be rushing back.
-If you are one of those instagramers who just cares about looks and not the taste of the food, this is the perfect place. -Food quality was a hit and miss. -Most definitely should drop the name Izakaya if you are going to be serving skewers that either come slightly pink or extremely dry and overcooked. Had the ichi ni maki roll to start off with, is ok for overall quality but definitely not worth $30, salmon was definitely over seared/cooked to what im use to. Presentation is what you would expect a higher end resturant to showcase. Next i had the slow cooked beef curry. This was a decent meal but nothing that couldnt be done easily done at home minus the slow cooked beef. The slow cooked beef was definitely was what kept the dish to it's high asking price. The curry was abit watery to my liking. Roughly 15% too watery Next came one of the worst parts to the night The yakitori set. Standard yakitori execpt Two sticks stood out forgot their name One chicken thigh was pink And the mince chicken balls were really dry and overcooked... Seemed like something a gym rat would cook to fullfill their protein needs. Seriously if you are going to call yourself an izakaya atleast have good skewers. The first gojo platter came out... Nothing overly special and the quality of fish was not upto standard. Especially when Hinoki Pantry sells a platter or you can pick and choose from them to give you a much higher standard of sushi and sashimi for a fraction of the price. Actually most platters in a decent restaurant elsewhere is either the same quality but 2-4 times cheaper. The only highlight was the scallops today were great. Desserts - Chocolate Harumaki - nutella filled spring rolls with vanilla ice cream on the side... So couldnt go wrong -Matcha creme brulee- if they call this a cremee brulee, than they must think a hard boiled egg is considered a runny egg. Their creme brulee was mushy and had a bad grainyish texture... The crack that you expect on a creme brulee was hardly their. Portion is large so that could be a pro... But due to how overcooked and uncreme brulee like it was... It was definitely a con. The rest of the food can be pretty much summed up as overpriced, hit or miss.
Ichi Ni Nana is a Melbourne institution serving up modern fusion Japanese fare. Housed in a huge multi-level venue decked out in quirky Japanese decor, the restaurant is split into a few different sections both indoors and outdoors to cater for a more intimate dining experience to big group celebrations. Unfortunately the food is not so impressive - whilst the menu is extensive and dishes are presented well, the quality and portion sizes really aren’t justified for the prices. We tried the: Salmon Tartare Tacos $22/3pc - these were pretty decent. Bite-sized nori tacos fried with a thick Karaage-style batter, filled with rice and creamy salmon tartare. Tori Karaage $18 - not the best karaage I’ve had. Could be more juicy, as some pieces were overcooked and quite dry. Served with sriracha mayo sauce. Dragon Roll $30/5pc - presentation was on point and the sauce was delicious, but no wow-factor. Plus, you only get 5 pcs! Wagyu Roll $35/6pc - flavourful and coated in a sweet soy style sauce. But again, very small portion for the price. If you’re after some fun vibes then consider checking it out, otherwise there’s definitely better Japanese food out there that’s higher quality and value-for-money!
