Hume & Iser - Building with Bendigo since 1880

Hume & Iser, a fourth generation, family owned company, has been an integral thread in the fabric of Bendigo for over 130 years.

From the days when Mr W Humme took over the City Steam Saw Mills in 1880 the business has had as much to celebrate as it has had to survive.

It has outlasted wars, the depression and in more recent times competition from multi-national hardware chains to become Australia's largest HOME Hardware store.

From the slums of gold fever to beautiful streets of Victorian cottages and even our most famed heritage buildings such as the Town Hall and the Art Gallery came to life with the help and dedication of Hume & Iser.

Family owned and operated since 1880, Hume and Iser started as a saw mill, carting timber logs by horse and cart and selling some goods by the pound. The business has come a long way since and now incorporates timber, hardware, garden products and plasterboard.
