Incredible disappointed with the service we received from Hotondo Homes. Originally requested a preliminary quote through their display homes in Clyde North. 
Original quote took two months to get off of the sales assistant. Continuously found that we had to contact Hotondo to get any answers, were repeatedly told “we will contact you in a few days” and wouldn’t hear from them in weeks. 
Initial deposit put down in June, had colour app in July and left waiting for months for a quote back on the extras we selected. But were originally told it would only take two weeks.  Again didn’t hear from hotondo until September when we contacted them. 
Made a further deposit against the sales quote we received in September. 

In November we still hadn’t heard back from them. I then decided to put in a complaint to management, we were later told that the delay was due to half of their staff going on annual leave. They added $60,000 to the initial contract stating “trade increases” knowing full well that we couldn’t pay for the extra money. 

Throughout the entire process we were constantly contacting Hotondo and received so many excuses as to why they forgot to call us back, or hadn’t gotten back to us. They made several mistakes on the plans that we had to keep pointing out, again blamed it on staff taking annual leave. Kept adding items onto our sales quote that were in their “inclusions” list but charging us $100s per item. Always given an excuse as to why the mistake was made.

We also gave them $4000 in deposits that they say they won’t return even though they fully admitted fault with the problems that occurred. 
 
Customer service was poor, rude staff, rude managers, who basically told me that he would be “pissed off” by what they put us through but he wouldn’t help us. All I kept hearing from the manager was that they were a small builder and it takes time for everything. 

Overall incredibly poor service and I would never recommend them as a builder. 

Have now found a new,  equally as “small” builder and have had nothing but positive, fast, incredible service. Very strongly considering taking this further as I would hate this to happen to someone else.

**UPDATE** Have spoken with the owners of the Hallam Hotondo Branch. They were lovely and have tried their best to help us through the complaint process, getting all of our feedback so that this problem doesn’t occur again. They have also followed up with their staff to ensure that the standard of customer service is raised for other people wishing to build with them in the future: we have also been assured that we were a one off case and that this doesn’t happen often
