Absolutely beautiful and well worth the hike in. On a good day the beach is calm to swim in, with clear waters. Very refreshing. The only shade will be found at the north end where the trailhead begins to go around The Hazards, so be careful re: sun exposure if you intend to be here for a while. There is no fresh water nearby, so remember to bring enough water per person! Closest toilet is at Wineglass Bay. Enjoy your visit and don't forget your bathers!
If you have time, I definitely recommend you to visit this beach! It's much less busy than Wineglass Bay also the water is so calm! I walk all the way to my chest depth and i can still see all the wy to the bottom. It's a very long stretch beach so you can pick your favorite spot. There are some smaller Bay behind the rocks if you after more private space. We took the long way 5.5km walk back to car park. It does requires some level of fitness.
Beautiful beach without the crowds! As hazards beach can only be reached by boat or a 5+km walk from the car park it doesn’t get to crowded. The direct walk to the beach from the car park is around a headland offering lovely views the whole way, the is walk is exposed so don’t forget the hat and sunscreen. It also somewhat up and down and not that well formed in places, but generally an easy walk. Rather than walking in and out the same way I would combine it with the wine glass bay and lookout walks, the total round trip is around 11 or so km. I’d recommend doing the lookout first to get the really steep bit out of the way, than look forward to that beautiful refreshing swim at hazards beach.
Stunning… more beautiful than wineglass bay beach
Beautiful beach—much less crowded than the Wineglass Bay, albeit less picturesque and I reckon the water was mildly warmer too—though might have just been the longer walk to get there. Doesn’t take much time to get there. Recommend doing it as part of the 11km circuit, but note you’re probably not even halfway when you get to this beach—still a long bush walk ahead of you go the very rewarding, 4-5 hour circuit.
Hazards is a stunning white sand beach – more beautiful up close than Wineglass Bay, less crowded, and, because it’s on the inside of the bay, a safe swimming spot. That’s why the tour groups and water taxis come here to drop people off for the short walk across the isthmus to Wineglass Bay. The boat tour or water taxi is easily the best way to do this. If you want to walk here the direct route is about 2 hours of very dull, hard walking through tea tree and rocks direct from the carparks. The other way is the 4 hour circuit up to the lookout, then down the 1000 stairs to Wineglass Bay and across the isthmus. There are no toilets or water here, so stock up. The only toilets are at Wineglass Bay and the car park. But there’s a wide, white sand beach which boats can easily approach, and plenty of safe swimming. There’s decent shade at the end closest to Coles Bay and this is where most people seem to stop for the day.
Easily one of the best beaches I've ever seen in my life. Even feels a little bit like Thailand and the Seychelles all together. Prettier and calmer for swimming than Wineglass Bay. Don't miss this gem!
GORGEOUS beach. The water was cool and calm and refreshing. Way better than wineglass bay beach- less crowded, calmer water. I recommend doing the full circuit.
Probably the best beach I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to many. Zero facilities and hardly anyone bothers with this part of the walk which u can do from the Visitors Centre or after Wineglass Bay. Both walks are “hazardous” given from Wineglass Bay we came across a Tasmanian Tiger Snake and doing the Hazards Beach Circuit we basically had to leg it because we were chased by mosquitoes and horse flies, but I’d go back in a heartbeat if I had my own boat!
I fully get why this place is called Hazards Beach. The water came all the way up to the beginning of the beach. I've had a lot of fun trying to avoid getting my feet wet. The walking path from wineglass bay to hazards beach was great too, would definitely recommend it!
