One of the best ramen restaurants you can find in Sydney. I’ve tried Hakatamon at Darling Square and the Chatswood one is no different except there is a lot more seats and tables. The signature ramen Hakata Maru has excellent broth and chilli on the side to suit your likings. Hakata also offers Asian Bao, side dishes, rice bowls, curry rice, dessert and beverages alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Something that might interest you is their takeaway DIY tonkotsu hot pot set that can be cooked at home for 2-3 people for $42 though the price seem to have increased from $38. The ramen isn’t cheap though and you will be looking between $15-21, while curry rice all under $20 and rice bowls all under $10, toppings at additional costs. Service is reasonably quick but depends on the capacity at the time you dine in. Pleasantly nice and you don’t feel rushed to leave because it’s not located in a busy area.
Decent ramen. Not the best I have had but definitely above average. A small team who get through the orders quickly. Go for the signatures hakatamon ramen. The karage chicken is very good as well. Chicken and prawn dumplings can be given a miss. Bit of a draft and chill even when seated inside
We got the white tonkotsu ramen. It was decent as the broth was rich and had a nice pork flavour and the noodles were chewy. The char siu pork was a bit lacklustre as it was not that flavourful and a bit tough. The flavour of the broth could also be enhanced with the complementary condiments, which were located near the back of the store. There were a variety of sauces like hot oil, soy sauce and vinegar and other toppings like chopped garlic and sesame seeds. These condiments made for a more flavourful and tasty broth. There were also pickled spinach and radish at the condiment station which were nice. The mini wagyu donburi was flavourful, but the meat was very chewy. The edamame was fine. The tonkatsu was a bit small for the price at $7, and was a bit too sweet with the sauce. Overall, a not bad ramen restaurant.
Totally, the meal is delightful. The soup is good but the corn is incongruous with the taste but the noodle is alright, however, it's still a good choice to have ramen in Chatswood. The Nanban karaage is finger-licking good, juicy and flavorful but the rice is still awful. The last one is the gyoz, I have nothing to say, it's ordinary.
Soup is full of flavour and ramen is cooked to perfect texture. However gyoza is not great at all, the wrapper is thick and doughy while the filling is lack of flavour. Definately expected it to be better than frozen supermarket stuff
My first time visit to @hakatamonramen. There won’t much option for Chicken Ramen. So I ordered the one and only choice on the menu was the Wonton Shoyu Ramen Soy Sauce Broth Ramen with Chicken and Prawn Wonton. Yummy Taste 8/10.
This place is great, the ramen is Fantastic. Better value and taste than Ippudo. The tables are a bit sticky but the Ramen makes up for it. Highly recommend if you want Ramen and are in Chatswood My favourite is the Hakatamon special tonkotsu!
I used to love this place. But today's experience was very poor which led me to believe that the management has changed. First of all, the noodle was not cooked properly. As you can see in one of the photos, the noodles were clumped up together. The black fungus was also not prepared well. As shown in the photo, you can see that they've left the ending bits and was not cut properly, leaving a big piece in the bowl. When I told the staff about the clumped up noodles, she didn't seem to care. She gave me looks while I repeated myself and finally she rudely asked "so do you want another one?" The fact that she didn't acknowledge the poor quality of the food and their shortcoming was very disappointing. The soup base also seemed to have changed which appeared to more oily. The way they've prepared the pork also seemed to have changed, they are thick pieces rather than layers of rolled pork cut into thin pieces. This broke the balance and made the whole bowl very fatty. No chance I would come again.
if this is your first time get here, order Hakatamon Tonkotsu please!! And don’t mix the all foods together first. Take another spoon and try the original soup, then try every ingredients, also needs try another one black oil with soup, last step try a little bit spicy sauce. It’s a great choice for first visit ! like me haha Also Happy Hours is great!! it’s let me missing Japan so much
Very satisfied for a hidden ramen place. They do offer kids ramen for $7. Small place make sure you will be prepared for the waiting list on dinner time
