The doors and windows were closed, but 2 birds were flying around, particularly in the kitchen, and no one did anything about it. Bird droppings can carry germs!nThe food was edible but not impressive, especially for the price.nThe 2 Kiwi waitresses were friendly and smiling, but no one else, especially the manager, was welcoming.nOverall, it was not a good experience, and I will not return.

First time at Gusto. Took my daughter 10 and folks. My father thought his fish was overcooked, but he's never happy. The rest of us were very pleased with our meals chicken livers, steak and a kids burger which was a decent size and the service was excellent, to match the great water views. Reasonable prices. Will def go back.
Great location and service for our family dinner. Our waiter was very attentive and polite. Good selection of drinks. The prices were that of a fine dining experience but, some of the combinations of flavors and elements that came with the dishes were confusing and didn't quite hit the mark. I had the duck and the meat was really nice but the almond granola and glace cherries seem out of place and looked more like it should be on a dessert rather than a main. The other dishes we had were similar in mismatched flavor combos.nDessert was interesting too. Good flavors but agian it was still a little confusing. The cheese cake was not a cheese cake and was more like a jelly. The fondant cake was great though and you can't go wrong with a little chocolate!nThere where a few big groups dining with us but when they left, tables were packed up around us and made us feel a little rushed. It was at the end of the night so this is understandable but we were yet to finish dessert.
Ventured to Gusto on a Monday evening. The food was overall below average tbh. I was surprised and was expecting a lot better. Great location with nice views over the harbour area. Great friendly service. Uber from New Plymouth was around $15 each way. Free parking if you are driving.
