Found a winner in Kyneton today! Dropped into Grist Artisan Bakers, which is tucked inside an awesome historic old steam mill, and grabbed one of their meat pies. Absolutely delicious pastry and top tier filling.
Stopped in at this bakery while passing through Kyneton and honestly… wow. I might sound like I’m exaggerating, but I think I’ve just had the best pie, sausage roll and carrot cake I’ve ever eaten. Everything tasted genuinely fresh and full of flavour. Coffee was great too, which always helps. One of those unexpected finds that makes a stop worthwhile - will definitely be back.
Tried the country-style custard tart from Grist Artisan Bakers as part of the Autumn Fest pie & tart trail. While it looked appealing, the base was unfortunately soggy & the custard leaned overly eggy, giving the tart a more savoury than sweet profile.
June 2026:nHad the privilege of buying and eating some delicious treats with family on the weekend from this cute establishment. We purchased them as takeaway to eat back at home. Definitely worth the visit, fresh and tasty
Had the most delicious fruit tart today! It was the best one I have had. The balance between the crust, custard filling and fruit was sublime. Usually fruit tarts aren’t always packed with fruit, but this one had generous amounts of apricot and berries.
