Story

Griffith University’s Aquatic & Fitness Centre is a multi-purpose facility located on the Mt Gravatt campus and offers a variety of swimming and fitness experiences. The centre is open to both the University community and the general public and is open 7-days a week.

You can visit the Centre on a casual basis or purchase a membership giving you full access to the Centre's facilities and services.

The centre's Swim School offers learn to swim classes for babies as young as 6 months old through to adults. The centre runs regular term based programs, holiday intensive programs, stroke correction and other swimming programs all year round. Enquiries for classes should be directed to the Aquatic Program Coordinator.

This review relates to the children's swimming program not casual use of the pool. We used to come here on a casual basis and it seemed pleasant enough at the time but whoa... was I ever wrong ! Where do I start ?  Do I start with their poor attitude towards their customers once they have you signed up? Do I start with their 3 month contract minimum? Do I start with the fact that even if you give them two weeks notice they keep billing you until the end of the month even though they will pro-rata bill you if you start sometime other than the beginning of the month? Shall I mention how they then point to some small print saying they don't give refunds? How they ignore people at the counter in favour of people on the phone? How if your kid hates the lessons, the admin have a too bad so sad mentality and will keep charging you regardless? How they won't elevate your child into a higher class until you kick up a fuss (experienced by other parents there)? Overall my experience with this aquatic centre has been very, very poor and I will not be back. Whilst I can only talk to my experience with this particular establishment, my advice would be to be very wary of going with an aquatic centre that has the backing of a large university to cover their lack of commercial prowess. However I acknowledge I may be wrong on this and it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that this is only an isolated case. If this particular aquatic centre was a proper business that did not have the backing of Griffith Uni and it's large revenue base, I sincerely doubt it would survived this long.

It's an okay place to bring your kids. There is splash pool and also a 25 m pool. There is a few which offers a decent coffee

The learn to swim program for small kids is outstanding.  Always great teachers!

Easy to find parking, even at busy times. However hard to find a good lane for lap swimming turning swim squad training.
