"Indian Cuisine is a combination of subtle tastes. Fragrant and exotic spices from India blended to create the dishes we present to you. These dishes are of South Gujrat and Northern Indian origin and are prepared in our restaurant exactly as in our own home. Each dish will have its own distinctive flavour and aroma which cannot come from any curry powder, but from spices and herbs specially prepared by ourselves. Indian curry that’s a little bit fancy, with service to match. Curries were tasty, packed full of flavour, not greasy and won’t make you regret it the next day! We came for dinner on a Saturday night, no booking, and found a spot easily. The waiters were very attentive, the prices were very reasonable.
Went for dinner with a friend.. The food tasted quite weird..tandoori chicken lacked smokiness, fish curry was quite fishy no pun intended..Biryani is just a fried rice though the waiter did warn dat it’s not dum biryani..Wonder why it is listed as biryani in the menu then..I had stomach aches afterwards n my friend got diarrhoea..Dine at ur own risk
I went there this evening with my family . Management and staff was very good but I never ever saw this type of curry at all at any restaurant.We ordered palak panner and karahi panner.Both curries we’re not cooked properly and it’s look’s like chef don’t have any experience with Indian restaurants curries.Both curries we’re tasteless .Please see the photos attached and check how’s these curries look’s like . Highly overpriced and not worth the money.
First time here - Tonight’s Lamb Madras ticked all boxes! The sauce was flavoursome and the perfect authentic consistency, the lamb was tender and fall apart soft. the parantha and naans were delicious. The service was amazing, all the waiters and the manager were just fantastic. They really care about customer service here. The warm cloth at the end was such a nice unique touch!
Rather expensive compared to other restaurants of similar cuisine and menu. But the service and food were amazing. The onion bhajia stood out along with the naan.Recommended dishesMango Lassi, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala
First time I have dined in Great India restaurant was in 2000/2001 and most recently in November 2022. Food was great than and its still is!!!!! Great choice of dishes and spiciness levels . If you don't know what to try just describe your taste preferences to the owner - Rakesh and go with what he suggests. And yes the owner is always there and always happy to look after you. It's easily 7 out of 5.
I took a group of 20 Students and 5 teachers tonight and the service was fantastic! Not only were the meals delicious, Rakesh and his team looked after us super well and nothing was stressful. Totally the best restaurant service I have ever received in New Zealand.
I did take away food today. Taste of the butter chicken and biriyani was worst of all my time. Forget about authentic or kiwi Indian taste, it’s no where close to any good food. If you want to eat Indian food and you don’t have any other option than this restaurant then either prefer bread and Jam or Mc Donald is much better.
My partner and I ate here last Tuesday night 24/05/2022 so I'm a little late in posting this. Both the food and the service where excellent our waiters all offered impeccable service and the food was top notch. I would definitely recommend taking it slow though and not making me and my partners mistake of over ordering as the portions are awesomely generous however they are very happy to wrap and bag any leftovers you may have. TLDR Excellent food and service will be back next time I'm in wellington.
Great food. Despite the public holiday and us arriving at the same time as everybody else the food came out on time and was delicious. Be warned though, the Vindaloo is hot, and very tasty.
