A must visit place in Goulburn. The food, the ambiance, the kids play zone, the portion, the range of choices were simply over the moon. This was one of the best dine in restaurants we have ever been to where kids were more busy than us enjoying their time and food at the same time.
Enjoyed lunch at the Soldiers Club. It was a hot day in Goulburn so we decided to go somewhere child friendly and cool. My 2yr old grandson had a great time playing in the soft play area here. Thankfully they have an area for little ones separate from the area for older kids. Despite the sign clearly stating age limits I had to ask some older kids to leave as they were playing in the toddler area and knocked a little boy over. Their parents should have been supervising them better. Lunch was OK. The kids fish and chips serve was great. I had a roast vege salad which was OK but a bit heavy. My daughter had fish tacos, which were only OK. So the food was average but the venue was enjoyable. There is also a Cafe section which looked very nice.
This is a really well presented club with friendly and welcoming staff. We grabbed dinner at the bistro which offers a good range of meals. Food was all fresh and nicely done. Steak and salmon cooked perfectly, salad and veggies also tasty. My tip would be to get a membership which we did as ends up easily paying itself back if you’re buying a few meals and / or drinks.
Really nice club and enjoyed my dinner here. The staff were friendly. The pizza was so nice and filling. Good value for a visitor.
Food is just OK: it’s nice enough but nothing special and slightly on the expensive side for what it is. Service is very good though. The main drawcard here is a particularly nice kids’ play area.
I’ve been to the Goulburn Soldiers Club many times and eaten at their bistro Diggers by the Park. The meals are very rarely enjoyable. Attached is a photograph of a “medium” rump steak, the blood was dripping from the steak as you can see my plate was full of blood. The meal got wasted as I can’t eat rare steak. This is a common occurrence at Diggers by the Park.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Usually if my experience was bad I would talk to the manager/supervisor and air my grievances and not leave a bad review in respect of the business. In this instance it is imperative that my review is left. My husband ordered our meals with entrees and main to come out together. This instruction was not adhered too. It is a common practice for us, as I don't eat a main meal. Then we asked twice where my husbands meal was plus our brucheta bread was awful. Finally his steak came out. While he was eating it a staff member confronted him and said he could have a refund for the bread. He said we'll I'm eating my meal which I'm also not happy with. She said to him not to get angry at her which he wasn't. He was hungry as we'd had a 7 hour drive and all we wanted to do was share a nice meal together. Soooooo disappointed with this experience as we ate here last week, had exactly the same meals and loved it. Let's hope others enjoyed their experience. The way we were treated was dreadful.
My 7 year old said that this was the best restaurant in the world! My 2 year old was equally impressed. The food was yummy, the indoor playground was beyond amazing, it had a great parents room, prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly. It is located opposite a beautiful park too with another great playground to enjoy after dinner/lunch. The only thing I’d recommend avoiding is the chips, they weren’t the best, I also wished the kids sausages had the option of Mash and veg, we are travelling through and it would have been nice to have some healthier options for the kids. The wait to order meals was crazy, but once ordered the meals were ready quickly. All in all, we are very glad that we chose this restaurant for dinner and would highly recommend it to other families.
Average service, average quality of food and not equipped well to serve peak hour evening meals in the Bistro. Be prepared to Queue and wait for a staff member to take your order. The seating is good with a variety of choices. A kids "play pen" is a bonus for parents with their kids in tow.
One of our favourite places to stop in and visit as a family when we travel from Melbourne to Sydney. The club is modern, clean and the staff are always friendly. The food in the bistro is quick and always has huge portions. There is a lovely kids play area available too, with sections for 1-3 year olds as well as 4-9 year olds. The parent change room toilets are always clean. Parking is available on site, both covered and uncovered. If you are looking for a reliable place to take your family for a meal, this is the place to visit.
