I went her on a Friday night for dinner as I had heard the food was quite nice. Unfortunately I was disappointed at every turn. After we were seated it took 30 mins before anyone came to take our order and with a relatively small menu this was way too long. The person I was with ordered the same meal med rare steak to which the meals took a reasonable length of time to come out of the kitchen and one steak ended up rare and the other was well done, so I am not sure how that happens if they were ordered at the same time. The meals weren't cheap, and for the price the quality and taste just wast there. The main redeeming feature is the furniture and flooring is quite nice floor is made from recycled railway sleepers.
My husband and I came in for dinner on Saturday 23rd January. Our meal was amazing I had the Salmon and salad OMG it was awesome! My husband had the steak and he said that was also fantastic and the music was such a wonderful touch. I'm sure the music was Charlotte Lock and Mark Baker. Such a great atmosphere definitely coming back.

We had our Wedding at 98 Chairs and we couldn't be happier with our choice they were wonderful to deal with. And the food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Everyone of our guests loved the food. I definitely recommend even if your looking for somewhere for lunch or dinner with excellent food and service 10/10
Unfortunately not good enough. My husband ordered the only past dish that they had. It was supposed to be a main for $26. Well they did charge us the money for the main, but there were not enough cheap spaghetti there. When I mention it to the lady, that seemed to be the owner, she asked me if he wanted more bread. ..we ended up paying $70 to go to another restaurant where my husband had a proper meal. We also did not like that they gave us only one piece of bread in a basket that did not seem clean at all with paper at the bottom. The lady that served us she looked bored, did not have much energy. We will not go back.
We had dinner here, and it was nice overall, but could have been better. Entrees of rabbit terrine and scallops and prawn were highlights. The rabbit with nice homemade pickles and the scallops were cooked well. The prawns still had their intestines however, which is not what I expected based on the professional presentation of the dish. Mains were duck leg confit and salmon. The duck had nice crispy skin, but the meat was dry as it was reheated. The sweet potato didn't add much to the dish but the jus was tasty. The salmon came with a nice salad of fennel and grapefruit , but the salmon lacked seasoning. For the price and location this place is a great eat. The menu is impressive enough that I would overlook some minor complaints and happily eat here again.
Dinner at 98 chairs restaurant was a taste sensation! Our table of 4 covered a wide cross-section of the menu with our meal choices for entrees and mains, and we all completely enjoyed our meals. While none of us sampled dessert, this was simply because we were already content with the generous portions of our meals, and we all enjoyed our particular choice of coffee instead. Owners Steve and Deb have done an amazing job fitting out this restaurant, with their use of recycled goods to be applauded. Being completely honest, if I have one small complaint, it is that the noise level in the restaurant full of diners can be a little intimidating, at times making conversation difficult. This is of course, due to the use of the beautiful timbers throughout the restaurant, and I am not sure what could be done to improve this. Anyone who enjoys dining out and is willing to try new taste combinations, should definitely give this restaurant a try. Goulburn was certainly in need of a new style of dining experience and I sincerely hope that this new business is supported by locals and visitors alike.
What can I say.... The food at 98 Chairs is Sensational, every dish perfectly cooked, well presented and absolutely delicious! The design, the recycled local timbers, rocks etc that helped build this restaurant makes it unique and eye catching.
Lunch at 98 Chairs today. Quiche and salad with a glass of white wine followed by poached stone fruits with vanilla icecream. Superb super fresh food and decor and very reasonably priced. Certainly worth the detour between Canberra and Sydney. I will go again. The only fly in the ointment is that perhaps the music can be a bit intrusive if one would like to converse as well as eat.
July 2016. What a great find! Had a superb lunch with the family sitting in the sunny courtyard. Everything was great and kind service from Hayley made it even better. Yes go here! Very thankful.
