Story

Our story began with a simple idea to share a taste of Korean in Australia. The culture behind Goong Korean BBQ was inspired by the combination of different Asian traditions. We aim to share what we have learnt and present it in such a way that our customers get to experience the culture through their palates.

Goong (Hangul 궁) means “Palace” in Korean. The word itself has been adapted into different cultures such as Chinese (宫) and Japanese. Being exposed to multi-cultural elements and wanting to bring the best to the city of Perth, our team established Goong Korean BBQ.

Every Korean dish served can be traced back to the country of origin. Through time and research, we are able to put together a menu that not only serves authentic Korean food, but also one that gathers the best of each culture and translate them into what you see; providing you with an explosion of different taste that blends well together.

Our core value is to deliver the best quality food to all our customers in a “Palace” we have established in Perth. A Palace where you find a sense of belonging, allowing us to take you on a Korean food adventure.

We are big fans of Korean BBQ and always keen to try new places with good reviews. This place isn’t somewhere we’d like to go back again. First of all, $34 for four raw tiger prawns would be considered overpriced anywhere in the world. We expected to pay a bit more for good food but that was way too much... We had pork belly which was really nice. Beef ribs were good but nothing special. The spicy pork ribs were disappointing as there was no flavour. Side dishes were boring. They forgot about our pancake and it came after we finished everything even the restaurant wasn’t busy the whole time we were there. Overall we didn’t think the food or service were amazing as described in previous reviews and definitely not the best in Perth in our opinion. Palsaik on Barrack St is still our favourite. More reasonably priced and better food.

Awesome Korean BBQ restaurant! I would say best place in Perth but I didn’t try any other Korean BBQ place in Perth so I won’t talk to fast haha. The staff was amazing and super friendly. I really loved their uniforms!! All the food was so fresh and the staff was very attentive to every details! We will be back!

Good food, nice view if you sit outside. I know that this place has recently been reopened, but the staff need a bit more training (or maybe just need more staff?), or procedures made more efficient. Though the staff were friendly, I don't understand why my soft drink that came out of a can was served 20min after hot food was served. Will revisit one day and hope that the experience is better.

Came here last Sunday with a group of 5. The place was very quiet when we arrived (we got there early at 6pm) but soon filled up with other patrons later on. The food here is a bit more expensive as compared to other Korean restaurants, however, service is impeccable and the food tastes great. I would highly recommend this place to my other friends. Waitresses were very friendly and food came out in a timely manner although it was a busy night. Bonus points for this place is the availability of parking spaces, not to mention, the nice waterfront view right outside the restaurant. Came here last Sunday with a group of 5. Fanciest Korean restaurant in perth. Well priced and apportioned meals. Alcohol a bit on the high end. The meats are all very tender.
