Went here for dinner after walking around the Friday Night Market in Chinatown. The restaurant was not crowded with a couple of empty tables inside and just one outdoor table vacant. The waitress advised that all the tables inside were booked and directed us to the outdoor table. We ordered and paid online which was very convenient. Overall the food was good, flavourful and nicely done. The fried rice deserve special mentioned. It was good especially when paired with the addition side of chicken. Suggestion for improvement would be the cheese for the fondue was rather thick, thusaking the cheese dip rubbery. Would recommend other combination of cheese that could enhance the dish. Overall good experience. An observation - the place was severely understaffed. The waiters and waitress looked rather stressed even though they tried their best to be helpful and cheerful. Suspected that the inside tables were not really reserved but the staff took the initiative to manage the customer volume. We were there until the place closed for the night.
Nice food, worth a try. Can't beat proper KFC korean fried chicken though! The UFO fondue chicken is quite an experience. The cheese is stretchy, so you gotta pull it with the tongs and wrap it around your chicken a bit and spin to wrap the cheese around. We got the boneless chicken version which makes this process and eating much easier. The drinks are neat and a cool novelty to try. Doesn't taste too much of alcohol though. When you make a booking, you'll need to pay $10 deposit. The booking said the deposit is not refunded if the booking is cancelled, so be aware of this. I also had to remind the staff to credit me back $10 to go towards my order, so please be aware.
The UFO chicken was out of this world! I love it! We finished the chicken first before the cheese ran out! The chicken was so good from inside and out! However, the soup was too salty just so you know. The staffs are accommodating and the actual physical store was cozy!
Really enjoyed eating at this restaurant for the first time over the weekend!! The ordering system is via QR code and you pay for your order before receiving it which I have no issues with. We had the blue cocktail with a shark in it and it wasn't that good, as in it was like drinking sweet syrup or cordial. You can't take the shark toy either so we don't recommend that cocktail. Chicken was great though the time we went, they did not have the Boneless option available.
My family always go here and now I see why! First time here and it was a great experience! Staff were always hands on, attentive, helpful and so friendly! Food was perfect with the portions and the cheese UFO fondue is a must! There wasn't a long wait at all for the food to arrive. Thanks so much to the amazing Tim as he looked after us. Definitely family friendly as well! Cheers team, you made our family dinner night!
Had early dinner after Paddy's market. We ordered the UFO Fondue Chicken. Flavours was nice, only if the cheese was a bit more softer rather than stringy for dipping. Overall nice atmosphere.
3.5 stars Goobne at Darling Quarter represents this multinational Korean-owned food chain’s first foray into Australia. Their point of difference is captured in the name, which means “oven roasted”. Presenting a healthier take on Korean fried chicken, their bird is roasted in a 195 degree Celsius oven without oil. The resulting plate of bone-in deep cheese half chicken $22.50 is tasty and dusted with a good amount of flavoursome golden snow cheese. You’ll see the benefits of being part of a big chain in the screens that seamlessly integrate entertainment and advertising, located all over the colourful club-like space. K-pop stars take on ambassador roles and it’s hard not to find yourself bopping along to their relentlessly happy pop songs. The bar’s shiny draught beer taps were set decor on the day I dined, with our Tiger $9 and Asahi $9 arriving as bottled beers. There was also an odd hybrid ordering system with some items—like the beers— not available on the online menu accessed via a QR code. Beer is the perfect match for volcano rice cake $20 teaming tteokbokki with cabbage kimchi, noodles, fishcake, and a lake of cheese. Yeah okay, it’s late night stoner food consumed to blaring K-pop under a wash of lurid green light, but I still kind of liked it.
Ordered a pot of seafood soup. Two or three shrimps. Two clams and an empty mussel. A few strips of squid. Some pieces of onion and carrot. The rest is pretty much just spicy water. It cost $18 and I think is not worth the price. Won't go again.
Fingerlicking chicken and cold beer. Simple formula that works. Good, friendly staff, but a very mechanical and rigid ordering and payment system. Not for the technologically challenged. Bring a millennial friend to assist you if you weren't born with a smartphone in your hand. Bring your credit Card. Try the Korean Soju spirit with your beer.
Been there a couple of times. After covid it got a lot worse. Seems like the management doesnt really care- absolutely understaffed- wait at least 20mins to get a seat even though tables are empty but the staff can not clean them. Order only when you actually ask a staff if you can order as they are cleaning, bringing out food, seating people, packing food for delivery only 2 people, no dedicated person behind the bar. While you wait for another 20mins for your drinks the food quality is still good - kitchen cant be busy as they do not reseat the empty tables. Worst though - if you want to enjoy the food from a previous guest, just use their cutlery. Its hard to find a cutlery which is not dirty picture attached is just one example. With one or two more staff it would be a great place to go. And yes, i am aware that it is hard to find staff atm, pending on salary and work conditions of course. Since i started to go there i have seen a high volume of staff rotation.
