I have been to many HK style cafes both local and back in HK. The atmosphere at Golden Harvest was quite good. It gave the authentic cafe vibe. I like the daily specials which I can check out on FB before visiting the restaurant. The place is usually busy and was busy when I went for lunch on a Monday. The menu was extensive and had everything to suit everyone's taste. I ordered the pork chop and spam in black pepper sauce on rice. My friends ordered the same but on spaghetti. Another friend ordered curry ox tongue on rice. All the dishes looked and tasted yummy. As we ordered lunch specials, we got a free drink each. I didn't take a photo because I was too thirsty but the milk tea was fairly authentic too. I just wish the cups were bigger :nnOverall, this is a better than average HK style cafe. The staff were friendly. I am not sure why there was so much negative feedback. I do speak Cantonese so maybe that's why. I would recommend this to my friends and colleagues.
Under new management, and sadly, the quality has declined. The milk tea, once the best, is now overly milky and undrinkable. When I gave feedback, I was told to order ‘less milk next time,’ implying it was my fault. Additionally, most staff now speaks Mandarin instead of Cantonese, which changes the overall atmosphere. Save your money and go somewhere else.
The food was so good. Cant praise it enough!! Will def come back here again.
Food was pretty good but service was pretty terrible. Slow and long wait for food, curt staff who were borderline rude, dismissing you when you put your hand up to ask something, not a smile or even eye contact when being served. A smile and kindness is free. If you want a more pleasant dining experience I would suggest going to new age cafe in Tunstall square.
Came in for lunch just before 12 today and the whole cafe was full. We waited about 5 minutes before we got ourselves seated. Spacious enough to cater for families and has high chair facilities. The food came really quick. The presentation of the food was so so but taste wise not bad. Good value for money as portion is big. My kids loved the sweet and sour pork on rice!
