We went for the weekday $30 roast. Value for money wise can’t fault it, $90 for two roasts two wines a Coke 0 and a study date pudding.nThe roast wasn’t the best I’d ever had but it was decent. Needed a litre more gravy and some more veg but got a substantial amount of roast beef which was nicenSticky date was okay, again but the best Ive ever had but jt did come with strawberry and blueberry which was a nice touchnWould defo return to try rest of the menu
As a visitor from the United States, we decided to give The Russell a try and overall had a very enjoyable experience.nnThe restaurant itself looks fantastic, with a great atmosphere and a clean, welcoming environment. We visited on a weekend, so it was understandably very busy. The only downside was that we had to flag down a member of the wait staff in order to place our order, which made the service feel a little slower than expected.nnThat said, once we were able to order, everything went smoothly. The food was very good, arrived in a reasonable time, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff were friendly, and given how busy the restaurant was, it's understandable that they were stretched thin.nnOverall, a nice dining experience with good food, a great atmosphere, and a clean, well-maintained restaurant. We'd certainly be willing to visit again.
I love the decor with fairy lights on the outdoor patio and the thoughtfulness of blankets.nnThe space is so comfortable and cosy for a lovely night out. This visit was only having drinks but I want to have some food next time.
I visited Goat House on my work break on a Friday in May 2026 to grab something quick from the pop up service window beside the main restaurant. I was short on time and wanted an easy lunch option, so it felt like the perfect chance to finally stop in. The location is excellent, right beside the small green park area in the centre of Elsternwick and only steps from Elsternwick Station. Tram stops are also nearby, so it’s a really convenient place to get to whether you’re arriving by train, tram, or on foot like I was.nnFrom the outside, the venue makes a great first impression. There’s a large outdoor seating area with tables and chairs under a covered verandah, which gives it a relaxed courtyard feel. It looked like such a nice place to sit for a casual coffee, lunch, or catch up. The main restaurant space inside looked modern and inviting. I only visited the side pop up cafe window this time, but even from the entrance I could tell the full restaurant would be worth coming back for. The staff also seemed genuinely lovely, which always makes a place more welcoming.nnEven at the smaller takeaway window there were plenty of options available, including toasties, warm food, drinks, and a few sweet treats. It felt like a smart set up for people who want something fast without needing to sit down for a full meal. I ordered a chocolate milkshake and took a seat outside while I waited. It only took around five minutes to come out, which was great for a lunch break. A few other people came by to order during that time as well, and the staff handled everything quickly and smoothly. The milkshake hit the spot, and the whole experience felt pleasant.nnOverall, Goat House seems like a fantastic local spot with two great options depending on what you need. A quick and convenient takeaway window, or a more relaxed dine in restaurant experience. I’d happily recommend the cafe side for anyone short on time, and I’m keen to come back properly one day and try the full restaurant menu.
The Goat House never disappoints! The atmosphere is always fantastic, and the Wolfmother pizza is absolutely incredible. Easily one of my favorite spots—highly recommend!
