The Fish was delicious, not oily, not dry, & the batter was crunchy & perfect. Chips likewise cooked to perfection. Genuinely the best Fish & Chips I've eaten in years, & so incredibly well priced! In fact, it was so well priced, I was concerned about portion size, but OMG no, couldn't have been happier. If we were staying in town longer, I would most definitely buy from here again.
I've been to this place a few different times. Usually their fish is delicious and crispy, but their chips on the soggy side. This time it seems to have switched around.
I like the fish and chips at George's. Its a local institution. Chicken salt can be asked for to be sprinkled on the food. Fish fillet is a decent size and chips are crispy.
Great Kiwi takeaways, great prices & even FRESH fish, the Garlic Butter Chips are to die for yum yum. Burgers are the freshest I have seen in Whanganui. Friendly Service & Clean tidy shop. Something for everyone including value packs. Fresh Mussels sometimes too. There is a dine in option next door..
Sorry to say, I left there very unimpressed. Usually a great place for fish and chips in a reasonable amount of time but not this time. However, they may be having a problem in their life or whatever, and had a bad day. I will still continue to support the store because it doesn't always happen.

Ordered large order for lunch, it was ready on time but food quality and service just wasn’t good. Chips here used to be amazing, just average.
Had another go.... This time a decent size fish.... But wasn't the same fish I had recently ordered from here before.... Chips were delicious....
Meal looked good. BUT it was undercooked and the staff was inexperienced and with no confidence 1 meal was brought out then had to wait for the 2nd meal.
