Since 2005, Gerardo and Lei Deflorian have been giving the people of Brisbane a taste of the Italian gelato experience at Gelateria Cremona in Rosalie.
Having trained and worked as a Gelatio in Italy and Germany, Gerardo takes great pride in being able to make delicious, wholesome gelato of the highest quality using traditional methods of production dating back as far as a century.
To complement Gerardo's simple, preservative-free recipes, Gelateria Cremona recently introduced some new, but very old-fashioned, equipment for making and serving our ice-cream. Made in Italy, and with almost no changes in design for the past half century, the “Effe” is still renowned as the machine that makes the best ice-cream in the world with the trade off against its modern equivalents being a little extra patience and hard work.
With the Effe's specially designed blade for folding air into the gelato, the texture becomes all the more delicate, making it necessary to store the our soft, fragile ice-cream inside the classic “Pozzetti” display. Protected from the outside light, heat, oxygen and moisture, our gelato maintains the freshest of texture from when we take it out of the Effe to when we serve it to you.
Beyond delicious gelato we also serve fresh espresso coffee as well as one of our best kept secrets, the Italian Style Hot Chocolate. If it's too hot for that, we also make iced-coffees and affogatos using your choice of gelato straight from the display.
