Fabulous place, lots of history! Was very interesting, my 11 year old niece picked up a presence in the hospital doorway, and someone in the surgery, freaked her out a bit then and she was done!! Souvenirs on the way out made her happy again! Got told after, she was actually right about the surgery..... !!
This museum is definitely worth a visit - it provides a great history on how the gaols developed in Victoria from ~ 1850's Gold Rush
We went on the Ghost tour. Very interesting! The young guy who took our tour really got into character and certainly put a great spin on the script.
very interesting place. i’ve watched a lot of Rob on tiktok and you can sense his interest in the place with all the info he gives and passion and you can see it through the prison.nmy only suggestion would be as it’s self guided that a booklet would be handy to give info on some of the prisons who stayed in certain cells or what the rooms were used for. we visited prior to watching the videos on the place so going into one of the kitchen rooms, we were a little confused by what looked like an autopsy table. and the room where a prisoner escaped, i went into the cell and didn’t even notice.notherwise fantastically well kept place, love seeing these places kept the way they were back in the day.
Well worth a visit, and if you're up to it they do ghost tours at night
