If you are looking for authentic Indonesian cuisine in the coolest small capital in the world aka Wellington, you should try Garuda Truck & Eatery. The place is neat, the food taste great, and the staff are helpful and hospitable. Walking distance from the Courtney place. Parking is via Street parking service of the city you need to pay. I tried the lamb stew and it tasted so good. The Nasi Goreng is also one of our favourite.
Tastes like real authentic Indonesian food, only place that could facilitate a table of almost 16 people, best to maybe call in as we were luckly it was raining outside we came in and there was seating for us. I got the Mie Goreng chicken noodles / Kaafir Lime chicken and also their friend chicken is so good. Halal chicken, confirmed it's brinks as the supplier
Clean place, great food, friendly service. Highly Recommended for lunch and dinner. Pardon the chicken bones. Can't help my self starting prior to taking pictures

Excellent food and great service. Trying to cut back on rice so ordered the Lamb stew. It was well prepared and arrived at the table very quickly. Best of all, and without asking, they gave me some complimentary steamed veges to go with my meal. The Mie Goring is great and you MUST try the fried chicken.
Delicious fresh food with Vegetarian options just as good as the meat dishes! Clean oil makes for tasty deep fried treats and friendly staff make this place our favorite Indonesian spot in the city.
Wonderful hospitality! The owner chatted to us about Indonesian tempeh - really fascinating! We devoured the tempeh nuggets and the Me Goreng. So. Good. Highly recommend their version of the classic noodle dish!
Rewarding substantial portions with delicious flavours. Great value. I really recommend this eatery. It is a quite a jewel just up from Courtenay Place. It's funny - Ive never eaten from the truck but I really enjoyed this sit down venue. You get to savour it a lot more than when youre walking around eating it in a market. I particularly recommend the deep fried tempeh. Do yourself a favour and try something different from the usual spring roll as an entree! Excellent and well worth your support.
It's great to find good eateries that's not based along the Courtenay Place Mile and to support these post Covid-lockdown. GTE's premise is attractive, clean, modern with a good, spacious layout. Service is very friendly and charming. The meals are good, portions are quite generous and the chilli sauces are excellent. Little garnishes such as fried shallots over your steamed rice go a long way in making diners feel welcome. Visit on a less busy day if you wish for a faster service. I've watched them at the Saturday night market live, before, but have never sampled their fare until now, so it's a treat to be able to do so within a comfortable premise. You can find them just around the corner from the Embassy Theatre in Marjoribanks Street.
