Story

Our name and subsequent story starts in a slightly unusual place.
In 1886 Vienna, Austria, a baby by the name of Karl Ritter von Frisch was born. In his lifetime, Frisch grew up to become an ethnologist (someone who studies animal behaviour), and during his heyday, Frisch studied the social and communicative interaction of European honeybees.
So you might be thinking, “What the heck does this have to do with a café in Perth?”
Well, what Frisch discovered was pretty special, so special that he was even awarded a Nobel Prize for his work. Frisch found that bees are more than just mindless drones all going about their business. He actually found that bees intricately communicate and interact with one another and the environment around them to build the barć (wild beehive). In doing this, bees are able to create an amazing community that wouldn’t exist without them or them without it.
Frisch and Barć is centred around community. Giving you a place to feel welcomed and relaxed whether it’s grabbing a quick coffee before work, spending time with friends and loved ones, or anything in between.

I had a great brunch at Frisch and Barc this morning. I had the breakfast burger while my friend got the chili crab omelette. Both were excellent. I’ve been here twice before and never disappointed. Will likely come back again soon

My favourite brunch spot! The menu is so creative with twists on the usual brunch options, it is nice to see something different. Each dish is perfectly crafted and cooked with balanced flavours and they look so pretty! The coffee is A+ and the service is always very fast and friendly. Coming here is always a treat!!!!

Nice place and atmosphere. Food presentation was good. Coffee was perfect. They were a bit busy which is understandable due to popularity. Lost a few stars because my congee order was forgotten after one hour of waiting. Disappointed because I made the effort to make a booking. I did get a refund as requested. Photos of my family's meal provided. I hope to come back to give another chance but not too soon

Delicious experimental dishes with all the classics as well. We had the spicy chicken burger and the Spanish rice porridge, both were a surprise and delight with deliciously complex flavours. There were about 5 other things I wanted to eat on the menu so we'll definitely be back!

Our table had the eggs benny, pork panini, chilli beef panini, crab scrambled eggs, soy chai latte, coffee and ginger tea. Everything was a winner! The modern Asian-Australian fusion of flavours was punchy and flavourful. When you read the history of the name, it also makes you feel extra welcome to be dining with friends. The waitress was very accommodating when I asked to move tables and the reservation process was simple. We will return as there are a lot of interesting things to try on the menu.

Nice breakfast place with a great menu, tried the chilli crab omelette and big breakfast, the omelette is excellent and the big breakfast is good too, like the sausages.

Carol, a friendly staff, said they started this business about 4 years ago. She showed me the two-story modern building. Half of the second floor has a nice outdoor seating area. The Woolloomooloo Latte had a medium roast taste and was slightly smooth with very slight acidity. The brekkies tasted alright, and the Chili Crab was crunchy. Good services, all dishes came up fast. Nice and clean environment. Soft music and ample natural light. Cheers! 2021-08

Cute brunch place with a lot of options! Really enjoy our meals and drinks!

Definitely must try. Variety of food is great, the usual suspects with a twist. I always return to try the different items on the menu! The drinks selection is a highlight for non coffee drinkers but from my picky husband, he noted was the best coffee whenever we visit Perth.

My daughter brought me here for my Birthday brunch. Totally disappointed with the so called cold pressed juice which is made using a syrup from a bottle with water and ice added to it. They also charge 7.50 or 8.50 for these juices which tastes like cordial. The taste of the food was most horrible. Bread was soggy. Will never visit the cafe again. Too over priced and hopeless food.
