Breakfast well presented,noverlooking beautiful gardens. Thomas and Kathy were absolutely wonderful hosts, very accommodating and friendly. Excellent customer service. Multiple common area options to relax near wood fire or to play pool, cards or chess. Excellent convenient location, short pleasant walking distance to the water front, center of town, restaurants, Peoples Park, River Cruise.nWe were impressed how they had a designated toaster which was clearly marked ‘GLUTEN FREE’ in a totally separate area, so no cross contamination. If they are notified in advance they will supply gluten free bread or banana bread for breakfast. Happy to recommend the Franklin Manor to other travellers.
Beautiful old house with nice rooms and very nice staff. Easy to walk around the waterfront into town, and a good restaurant nearby. Would definitely stay again. Would not recommend eating dinner at the hotel, as it's just not their main focus and was quite underwhelming.
A grand looking property perched on the hill, surrounded by lush gardens. A fantastic location & the staff were wonderful.nHowever, the interior feels dated & tired, particularly the bedroom we occupied. The drapes/curtains were terribly frayed, & the bathroom needed a really good clean. There were a lot of “big” pieces of furniture in the room that were somewhat unworkable & took a lot of space. Very comfortable bed.nOutside our window, birds were occupying a large opening in one of the eaves.nThe driveway needs SERIOUS attention.nThe dining rooms & lounge areas looked to us as though they had been through somewhat of an upgrade.nThis B&B has the potential to be the best in the area.
Away from the noise but yet a short walk to the boat terminal, pubs, laundromat, train station. Beautiful step back in time at this Manor, It has the sounds of an old manor too. Well worth the stay. Parking at the manor holds about 9 cars and to the left of the gate entrance there is more. An experience not to pass by. Staff excellent. Breakfast excellent.nTake some ear pods if you are a light sleeper.
We enjoyed our stay at Franklin Manor with excellent hosts Thomas, Cathie and Zoe. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms could do with an update. Location is very good. Parking is on site, but a bit tight and limited.
