If you're vision Newcastle you have to see Fort Scratchley. Was free to enter you can donate and was nice to walk around and learn a few things. Had a small gift shops and friendly staff all around. I personally enjoyed the firearms exhibit. Highly recommend.
A great place to to visit. Easy free parking outside. Friendly staff. Beautiful views of Newcastle City and Nobby's beach from the hilltop location. Worth a visit on your next trip to Newcastle. Should only need an 1 hour. They have a cannon firing on weekends at 1pm. The area is very well maintained by ground staff.
This location is an amazing spot to visit - a must visit place I would say. I was lucky to reach at the time the gun shot firing took place at the fort. The guides/ rangers of the fort are very friendly, knowledgeable and explains history of the fort in detail.
Great piece of history. Well worth a visit and book the tour to go down the tunnel. The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable
Visited today, what a wonderful experience. Special thanks to Ian one of the volunteers who virtually gave us a private tour of the site, his knowledge of the history and exhibits made everything that much more interesting. Easy parking, stunning views, well worth the visit.
A interesting place with lots of well presented and described local military memorabilia. The firing of the time-gun at 1.00pm was a bonus.
Fantastic! Get there about before 1pm for the firing of the cannon. After the cannon take yoirself on a self tour or you can get a guided tour of the Fort. The Fort is manned by volunteers, these people do and have done a fabulous job.
Went on the tour 9f the tunnels. It was an awesome experience with the 93yr old showing us all how it is done. Great stories and well run.
A good place to visit for history buffs. The tunnel tour is interesting.
