The food here is amazing! & The drinks are just as awesome! A staff member came over & asked me first if I wanted ice, ice-cream & whipped cream in my iced chai. I asked for no whipped cream. My partner said the latte tasted like it had the best beans you only get from Toby's Estate from Sydney's Woolloomooloo. The staff were all smiles & it looked like the cooks were 15 . Either way, we were impressed when the meals came out. It was a hot day & we sat out front. Unfortunately, just across the road are the pools, which have four industrial bins on the road & a beaut ton of flies to join the smell. While waiting, the irritation of the flies & waft of the bins was getting bad enough to make me question how this place hasn't put in complaints! I felt like a maniac when the meals arrived, as I have never wanted to smell food so desperately; Enjoy the first bite, but get the rest finished before the flies touch anything! Crazy enough, it was seriously filling & I couldn't even get through two bites of the second rosti I did steal a nibble of the omelette which was delicious also! Even after everything, I think we have to go back! The food... & Those drinks were just outstanding! Hehehe
Recently came home to Australia after a while abroad and had been looking forward to a decent fish and chips—and these guys delivered hard! Aside from it being in a wonderful little beachfront location, the chips were great and the fish cooked very well. Young man who served us just before 5pm on 20/12/22 did a fantastic job of taking the order and looking after the stock as I saw, give him a pay rise. Brilliant food, lots of parking and a great location. Can't go wrong Parking: Plenty
Lunch there today with family was good, calamari was exceptional. Ice cream servings for the cost are well below average. Cost my daughter $19 for 3 and wasn't the best tasting either, very small serve
We had 3 pieces of Snapper and chips yesterday. We all agreed it was the best fish we have eaten in a number of years. The batter was thin and perfectly cooked and the fish was excellent. Thank you. Parking: Easy
Great location opposite the Sandgate pool with street parking. Staff are friendly and helpful and service is good. Our fish and chips were hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The servings were generous and delicious. The selection of icecream is worth a look, my raspberry icecream was delicious. Prices are reasonable and there is plenty of choices on the menu. Can be very busy, but well worth a visit. They also do takeaway which is great if you want to sit on the grass or you have children who would love the great playground across the road. Wheelchair accessibility: Able to access both outdoor eating areas easily.
Fish and chips was great, they didn’t have prawns but happily replaced them with calamari. The guy that served us was super friendly and was singing a good song, the team showed each other a lot of respect, must be a good place to work. Thanks for the food!
Updated review as of 02/02/2022 we made a phone order for pickup for a family 4 meal. Kids calamari meal, 3 sea scallops and 4 potato scallops. 1st off they completely forgot the hot chips in the family pack and when we tried to ring to leave feedback we could not get through despite trying 3 times. Sea scallops were overcooked and inedible. Battered cod was extremely greasy with the thinnest batter known to man. Grilled cod was dry despite using the lemon. Only good things were the calamari and the potato scallops. We were also not told about the 15% surcharge over the phone but were met with the surcharge when we got there. Paid $87 for some of the worst fish and no chips ive ever had.
Front staff only 1 person took way too long to take orders. Ph orders not prepaid over ph, break into queue to pay, took us 25 mins to get served, incl 3 ph orders jumped in & a large order already made, jumped in added another plate more time in queue! to pay at the 1 register. The cash register lady repeats order, offering options which just adds more time to that order. Kitchen in that 25 mins were up to date & nothing was being cooked. No plates cleared from tables around us, new patrons moved dirty plates on to 1 table. Suggestions - Staff making coffees, should be assisting getting alcoholic drinks, 2 registers needed to speed up wait times fast food - not really!, ph orders paid when order made, so no interjections to pay with patrons in queue for dine in.
Great location. Breakfast menu fabulous, only disappointment was no smoothies available, they would have been a refreshing option.
