First time tasting First Taste at Footscray - the famed & did not disappoint with its burnt crispy rice bits scrapped from the pot surface; had generous & abundant garnishing; was delicious. Great claypot rice served super hot so the rice is nicely charred. Soups have fantastic broth as well. Recommended for those craving authentic Chinese.
Ordered beef with egg gravy on stir fried rice flat noodle. $14.50 as of date 2022 march. Taste great big portion great value. Nuff said.
Crowed when I walked in during lunch hours. Been to the one in box hill so tried this shop in footscray. Quite disappointed on the quality of the order, salty and oily dishes in general.
This was one of the best Asian meals l have had to date. Friendly service, great meals, good size & fair price. Problem is this place has set a high standard. Now I compare all my Asian food to First Taste. Most don't come close. If you enjoy Singapore noddles highly recommend. EnjoyFood: 5/5
Don’t even bother. Ordered take away and got burnt rice and the dishes were awful.
Wholesome food always reminds me of home cook meals! They serve many regular customers - clay pot rice and handmade prawn balls are their signatures. The efficient process has made them deliver the hot food quickly. The only drawback is the space; it could be pretty crowded and packed during peak hours. So it's better to book in advance if you are coming with a group of people.
We had a dinner here. It was not busy at all for somehow. I ordered black pepper beef in claypot. It was good and tasty. I couldn't finish them all, quite big portion.
The hainanese Chicken Rice was average, it didn't have the strong fragrant that you would expect from the dish. The Claypot Rice have that crispy rice bits but lacking any flavours due to minimal amount of the soy sauce. Wonton had thin skin and great. Food - 6 Service - 6 Vibe - 6 Price - $$
Food: I can't really compare the experience of having a burning claypot delivered to your table with steaming rice and sizzling meat. It's simply the best.. Service: Chinese service. You know exactly what I'm talking about Ambience: Reminiscent of an "in and out" eatery you'd find in Asia. Value: Best.
