Amazing Trip!  Awesome Itinerary!
Out of my 100+ trips traveling the world, one of my all-time favorite trips  was to the South Island of New Zealand.  It combined everything to make it a great trip: adventure (lots of hiking, bungee jumping), sight seeing/views of incredible mountains and rivers, relaxation, food, etc.  One of the reasons it was a great trip was the itinerary and help First Light Travel put together for me.  They suggested I rent car and do a South Island tour to accomplish my interests, and they suggested a complete itinerary, helped me customize it to suit my schedule, my interests and my budget.  It was not a canned itinerary.  They took the time to make it work for me.  And it was literally the easiest travel booking experience I have ever had.  And renting the car was way more fun, relaxing and cool than I would have thought.  The itinerary that First Light Travel gave me included every detail, timing, accommodations and vouchers/tickets to some of the attractions.  It was seamless and I am the type that typically likes to put my own itinerary together.  Thanks Verity and Elizabeth for your help, advice in every step and detail on my itinerary.  It was an incredibly memorable trip!

WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME IN NZ THANKS TO YOUR  TERRIFIC WORK IN PLANNING AND VERY EXCITING ITINERARY! WE THANK YOU FOR  THE EFFORT PUT FORTH IN MAKING OUR TRIP MOST MEMORABLE. THE LODGING,PLACES OF INTEREST,AND THE ATTENTION TO DETAILS MADE THE TRAVEL SO MUCH EASIER THAN IF WE HAD DONE THIS ON OUR OWN.WE GIVE YOU AN A+ AND WILL DEFINITELY USE YOU AGAIN IF WE RETURN TO NZ AND WILL RECOMMEND YOU TO OUR OTHER TRAVEL FRIENDS. First Light Travel organized a very nice 2-week long trip for my family in December 2013, with lots of various activities. It was a beautiful way to discover New Zealand. And for this, the agent would deserve 5 stars. But their prices are high, too high ! And you realize when you talk with travelers you meet during your trip (at the same hotels or doing the same activities). And when it comes to refunding an activity that was canceled, you get (after a few emails) a refund of the price they bargained with their supplier, but they keep the margin they had topped over it... This behavior definitely is not customer-friendly.

Good experience with First Light many years ago, friendly and nice customer support.  Frankly we could have planned it ourselves (NZ is very friendly and easy to visit), but we wanted local experts to help us make the most efficient use of our limited time (and also just simplify the logistical planning aspect).  They were terrific in that regard.

I give four stars instead of five because we had a minor logistical mix-up with our first night arrival (and I would not stay again at the place they put us on the first night), but to First Light's credit they helped us straighten everything out after we arrived.

Want an AMAZING experience we had to deal with Shelley Kirk and the team from First Light Travel. We have used their services 3 times over the last 6 years and have only positive things to say about Shelley and the team. Whenever we have guest visiting Australia that want to go to NZ we simply send an email to First Light Travel informing them of our dates and expectations and within a few email exchanges we have a detailed itinerary and VERY competitive price. But it does not end there, while we are travelling, sometimes we had unexpected changes of plans happen and Shelly was always available for us during our trip and help us along the way when needed. 

It is a guarantee that we will contact Shelley and First Light Travel the next time we go to NZ to enjoy this lovely country under the great care of this amazing travel agency. 

We strongly recommend them and can provide direct references if needed
