Fifty Acres used to be a go to Richmond showcase for breakfast, unfortunately they are now just another cafe, trading on past success. The menu is relatively unchanged but the food lacks the care and freshness they once served. Our breakfast this morning was not hot or fresh and tasted a bit boring. The service is quick, although the staff seem a little pushy these days. Coffee here is good and fitout is nice, but maybe a refresh is needed. A serviceable place to eat if pushed, but there is much better within a short stroll.
I stumbled across this place after a walk of shame and waiting for my hotel reception to open so I could get in my room. What a great surprise, coffee was good and man do they cook some great eggs. The venue is super cool and modern, and the food was god sent! Devine heaven in my mouth! Was a great hang over cure!
Enjoyable meal, good shade to sit in. Staff were attentive and friendly. The balsamic mushrooms were tasty as were the chili scrambled eggs. Fresh ingredients and a thoughtful menu. Also an interesting and quality fit out inside. Very much recommend trying this cafe out. Vegetarian options: Good, creative vegetarian dishes. Not your usual boring options.
What a glorious treat. From the minute you walk in the friendly staff are so on point and professional... a comfortable welcoming atmosphere gives a complete feeling of style and something different. I had the sweet delight of pumpkin hotcakes with citrus marscapone and syrup.. The waitress told me people like to share the serving and I can see why as I got through half... Hubby had the chicken burger and said it was really good and hot hot chocolate was fantastic.. 2 minutes from Adara apartments and right next to Epworth hospital 10/10
Lovely coffee and food! Even went back for a take away coffee in the afternoon! Customer service was excellent and staff were very friendly. Water refilled all the time as soon as my glass was empty.
Friendly service, really great coffee and food was very nice.
Loved loved loved the mushrooms and ricotta! Food came out quickly even though we were a large group. Accommodated vegan well.Food: 5/5
Coffee is very good but only having come here for breakfast, there isn't many choices especially cold or uncooked options. Everything is based around being cooked in some way except 1 option for muesli.Food: 3/5
Used to be well worth the high prices. No longer unfortunately, my last experience has left me never bothering again when there's so many other choices in Richmond that would charge a third less and provide the same level of food and service. Years ago dishes like the pumpkin pancakes and breakfast burrito were so exceptional they were worth the $20 plus but now of course everythings gone up the very ordinary breakfast burrito at a staggering $26 just isn't cutting it! I feel whoever owns this place is outright greedy. There is a 10% surcharge on weekends /public holidays, charges for credit card payments and even eftpos and if you want bacon with your brunch it's a whopping $6 add on making a simple breakfast burrito over $30!!! I'm guessing you'd get the same for under $20 at other places. The service was fine but it also took half an hour for the damn burrito to turn up which was a first here too. I won't be gracing their premises again.
I was visiting the area and came in. I had the chilli scrambled eggs which had a nice bit of heat while tasting delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cafes is light and comfortable. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
