Excellent location with a great view and a decent selection of beverages. Unfortunately that’s the extent of the good things I can say about the place. Ordered a seafood platter that was at best subpar, consisting of microwaved/bland prawns and mussels, smoked salmon that looks like it’s being left out for hours, fried fish with an unappealing coat of dark and hard batter, etc. Highlight of the evening was when my partner approached the waitress to see if our pizza order had been forgotten as it had been 1 hour and 5 minutes by this point since we ordered, and a table behind us got their pizza before us despite ordering after this. We didn’t ask the question with any aggression or blame. The middle-aged woman in charge of the pizza station then had a shouting match with the other staff member after being questioned the whereabouts of the pizza. It didn’t end there - after the shouting finished. she then muttered loudly that we were “so impatient”. We heard this so did the rest of the diners. Not exactly professional and sounds like another one of her tantrums as per a similar review by another diner previously. Disgusted with her behaviour we left with the pizza untouched. My reviews are almost always positive but this place stood out and I regret not checking google reviews prior to going in. To diners considering this place, perhaps a lovely picnic by the beach just across the road would be more enjoyable. 2/5 for the location and also because I am on holidays and am feeling nicer than I normally am.
Very tasty pizza. But the service was slow, which probably due to the busy holiday weekend. We got our first drink 40 mins after we sat down. The food was quicker though.
Neat place. Great food, we had their Pizza which is a good choice. Right by the beach so good views all round.
Great food, atmosphere, singer and staff. A great night of dining at the Enigma. Reasonably priced family run establishment and highly recommended.
Nice location and pizza was decent but definitely paying the tourist tax to eat here. Calamari very small portion size for value.
Pizza was good and the young waiter who served us was lovely, but everything else was pretty bad. $16 for 6 very small pieces of salt and pepper squid. When I went to pay, I wasn't given my change. Even though it was $1.00, it shouldn't be expected that the change could just be kept. Wouldn't recommend unfortunately.
The food was awful. I ate chicken noodles here. The chicken was old, the pasta was unpalatable. My Wife ate chicken fillet with puree and had the same sauce as I had in the pasta. The service was not nice. When I noticed that the food was distasteful, the waitress said she didn't know why because she wasn't working in the kitchen. Terrible. I do not recommend!
Worst meal and service ever! Went here for dinner with a group of 8 on New Year’s Day. The place wasn’t overly busy. Upon arrival we were greeted by a grumpy waiter. Drinks took 45 mins to arrive at the table after we asked what was the hold up. When the meals arrived after 1.5 hours the pizzas were tough, tasteless and slimy underneath as if they had been sitting under heat lights for a long time. All in all a terrible experience.
Food is awesome and tasty. Portions are good too. The only complaint I have is I ordered a salt and pepper squid as an entrée which is $16. You get 6 pieces of bite size squid, a bit bigger than popcorn chicken, a wedge of lemon and salad. It's not worth that much money for a small portion. I can get a much bigger portion with more squid in Auckland for the same price, maybe a bit more
Lovely warm atmosphere in this restaurant, we were blessed to walk off the street on a Saturday night and have a table for 2. The service was nice esp the owner/wife she was really warm and friendly & made a good wine recommendation. Our meals got to us in good time and were really tasty and hot. Well done Enigma.
