This place has been on my list for a while, my Brazil friend took me to there, it’s his favorite restaurant in Auckland. it is very popular, if you don’t reserve, might sit at the bar if there is a space, I didn’t mind sit at the bar and see the chef cooking, amazing. Our food is beautiful, big portion, the ribs are tender, service is quick and staff are friendly. I like the ambiance. Definitely would go back and recommend to give it try.
Tender pork ribs with great bbq sauce on special and the sausage was very unique tasting too. Beef knuckle was also good but similar to a sliced steak. Good cocktails like the Orange Bailey's which is pretty much a dessert. Make sure you get reservations here because it's booked out every time we've gone or tried to go. Good for 2-3 people but not larger groups from the tables I saw. Very filling plates.
Not a big place for large groups, suits 4_8 people gathering I assumed. loved our meal here! Had the yummy well-cooked costliest and the sides came on the very delicious sauce. very tender beef ribs with tostones and guacamole were recommended by one of the staff members, and it was a gr8 idea. Will back. But pre-booking will give you a chance to get a better table.
Food was amazing but service unfortunately was very far away from good, and for much as I would like to rate it as 5 star I can’t because of what happened. We got there and walked inside with my friends, but Fabio from Colombia I believe the manager told us off in a super rude way and asked us to wait outside, even though we didn’t see anything saying that we have to wait outside and we had a reservation, he was not friendly at all and his manners were non existent. We sat at the back where the restaurant shares tables with the other businesses so we bought chicken from next door while we were waiting for our order as they said it takes around 30 minutes, and then Fabio comes again to tell us off about eating food from the other place, once again, there’s no sign or anything that says that is not allowed, as far as we know we were in a food court!! Unfortunately these things left a bad taste in our mouths even when the food was great. If I ever come back I hope I don’t see this character again there, whoever owns this place should get staff that knows how to treat customers.
We dined here on a dinner out on a Friday night. Delicious food and lovely ambience of the restaurant. We loved the open kitchen and being able to watch the chef prepare our meals. Food was perfect and staff were lovely. All in all a great dinner out and would totally recommend. Will be returning.
This is our favourite place to eat in Auckland! The owner and staff are so friendly and the food is just succulent and stunning! Definitely go with an empty stomach. It's worth every cent!
I had received rave reviews from multiple sources claiming El Humero was home to a certified meat magician and let me tell you, it totally lived up to all the hype. The beef short rib was so tender and tasty that I’m already thinking about my return visit, we didn’t get to try the tomohawk steak but will 100% be trying next time. 5 X STARS - SAYS IT ALL. This would have to be the best Colombian barbecue experience I've ever had in decades!! The team here do an exceptional job with their service, the presentation of all dishes, the ambiance. The pure entertainment of an open kitchen where you can watch Master BBQ Chefs grill your selection of meat over glowing red charcoals - the way it should be to absolute perfection Absolutely stunning cuts of meat, infact one would suggest, possibly some of the beautifully slow roasted BBQ meat YOU are likely to eat - in YOUR entire lifetime. #truestory If YOU are a Beef /Chicken / Pork lover... this my friend.. is YOUR place!! Yep - put this one.. On your #BucketList Now imagine this - Colombian Barbecue Specialists who loving SLOW Roast some of the dishes for upto 24hrs before it arrives hot and succulent, right in front of you on hot skillets 10/10 on presentation. It's simply, hard to beat the Pulled Pork - and I'm comparing this to "The Grille" located within a 5 x star HOTEL!! In Auckland. Now go on - TELL me your NOT hungry This beautiful little boutique bombshell is nestled in the middle Takapuna, loads of park almost by the front door.. You simply.... Must... Try.... This Place - I will warn you though . It is HIGHLY addictive....and rightly so 5 x Stars P. S. This is NOT my first time here - so for the team to smack a "Home Run" Straight out of the park everytime single time I've been there ... AND to note - that's possibly 10 x times now... or more and with friends - some of them, a tough crowd... And if course... they LOVE IT Consistency is Key - "El Humero" should be a definition within the Oxford Dictionary = Consistent Quality.
We had a reservation for 8:15 pm; at that time, we were about to go in, and I got a call from somebody from The Humero asking us if we would go in an unrespectable way. Upon entering, this person assigned us our table, which was very close to the grill. I asked her if it was possible to move to other empty tables, and she said NO, all were reserved; when we left the site, these tables were never occupied. The menu had a suggestion for 3 or 4 people. We chose this option, we received a small menu, not for 3/4 people, and many roasted vegetables are overcooked like the meat. The owner Alejandro then tried to explain the situation that made no sense, the unfair treatment upon arrival and poor food quality compared to its high value. It was a disastrous dinner, and I do not recommend going there.
Steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. It was full of flavour and the chips were fresh and crispy. Would definitely come back again.
