I am in my final year of a teaching degree.nAlthough student services and access to help is okay. Every semester I have I have had issues with at least 1 unit. Mainly the issue is how a unit is run or the tutors themselves. The lack of training tutors get - especially when new to a unit, or degree, just isn’t it. Core units like English and maths units should have experienced or well trained tutors. Tutors should also be made aware of what has been covered in previous ones - English more so than any others. I have never had major issues with maths units. English units are by far the worst. 1st and 3rd year especially.nEvery uni has their pros and cons. I have done my degree 95% on campus. I am sure online could be different.nCampus map and ability to get around is fine. Not many food options available.
I started studying at ECU this year, after becoming seriously ill and needed to take time off work and studying for the foreseeable future, I requested to be removed from my course with medical records and support of the ongoing investigation. But of course, this isn't good enough and they will happily still take $5000 for the unit that I did not do more than 2 weeks ago, no assignments complete and never stepped foot into the uni. Very inconsiderate to people going through a tough time.
I would never forget my late research assignment nights here. So peaceful and safe. Loved the library the most.
Great Uni to study and to upgrade your skills
A wonderful university. It's a delight to come here to attend classes and study every day. Many areas have been renovated, or are currently in the process, to allow for more space for students to sit down and study. ECU knows what's up! All of my lecturers and tutors are of high standard. There are also lots of club societies to suit individual tastes and make the chance to meet people. The facilities are also great. The overall atmosphere is nice too, and outside is beautiful on sunny days. I'm so happy to be spending the next 2 years here!
