This park and the off-leash area is really huge. Not “oh that’s decent” huge — actually huge. My dog took off the second I unclipped the lead and just ran. Full speed. Pure joy.nThe kind of running that makes you realise they’ve been holding that energy in all week. I just stood there laughing because he looked so ridiculously happy.nWhat I love is that it doesn’t feel chaotic, even when there are plenty of dogs around.nThere’s enough space for zoomies, friendly wrestling, sniffing tours, or just wandering around doing important dog business. The vibe is relaxed. People are friendly without being over the top, and most dogs seem well-socialised.nThere are also quieter patches under the trees, which is perfect when things get a little too exciting. It feels balanced — energetic but not overwhelming.nHonestly, it feels like one of those low-key Melbourne gems. If you’re looking for somewhere to let your dog properly run, explore, and just exist happily, this is such a good spot. I’ll definitely be making this part of our regular weekend routine.
Edinburgh Gardens in North Fitzroy is a spacious and historic park known for its lush lawns, mature trees, and a welcoming community atmosphere. It offers a wide range of amenities, including playgrounds, sports courts, walking paths, and an off-leash dog area, making it ideal for both relaxation and recreation.nnPopular for picnics and local events, the park is also home to the historic W.T. Peterson Oval. While it generally receives praise for its charm and versatility, some visitors have noted occasional issues with litter and maintenance. Overall, it remains a much-loved green space in Melbourne’s inner north.
Large park with various facilities on site - public toilets north side toilets seem cleaner than the south ones, playgrounds south side bigger and fenced, both north and south have BBQs, table-tennis table, tennis courts, basketball half court, lawn bowls, skate park, ovals. About half of the east side is designated dog off-leash area, so I'd picnic on the west side instead. Alcohol consumption permitted between 9am and 9pm. There are a few bookable areas for events, cost looks pretty standard, generally
Great for the dogs!nParking is free on the side of the street closest to the park, but check the signs, it's permit only on the side with the houses. Its a nice quiet suburban area. People are pretty good about picking up after their dogs and there is water available at the water tank. Some lovely paths, a basketball court, soccer field and plenty of open area, as well as shaded spots, perfect for picnics.
Very nice gardens plenty of shade great to take ya kids or grandkids to the park. Full fenced kids play area with bbq area basket ball court. It's a pretty big area really.
