Really unimpressed...... our chips were soggy and the taste was over powered by old oil. The onion rings were awful and greasy.... I have an awful after taste i cant wait to get rid of..... never buying from there again. Was always curious coz the radio ads made the place sound amazing. Majorly majorly disappointed. Dont think i've had chips that bad in my life
Made a very spontaneous decision to try the local chippy shop and what a great surprise. Great service and fish was yummy : Will certainly return again :
One of the best fish and chip shops I have tasted in New Zealand as myself being an Aussie I have found this shop fantastic the piece of Cod is very large very juicy lovely flavour but my favourite has to be which I bought the last 4 to 5 times is the squid rings x 8 + 1 and half scoop of chips and NO salt as I put my own Aussie Mitani chicken salt on everything!! But keep up the good work your well above any other shop I've been to in New Zealand + your prizes very very competitive my squid rings and chips cost me around $13 Australia Minimum Chips is around $8 now and then all the other bits and pieces double the price of New Zealand so there's another big plus for you ..... One thing I would look at is possibly doing a delivery service! Just a thought!
The staff were lovely. The chips average. The snapper was dreadful. They were frozen pre shaped pieces which were stale, dry and rubbery. It seems only the obscure species of ‘fish of the day’ was fresh. Our meal certainly didn't live up to the reviews posted. Please state which fish is pre frozen processed fillets.
None of the staff were wearing masks. Even those serving customers. No, I didn't approach them, as I'm sick of asking this question. In this covid world it should not have to be asked. The food was average. Way too much sauce, and mayo in their burgers which after 5 minutes makes the buns very soggy. Chips very dry and salty. EDIT: I didnt appreciate the abusive response sent by private message to me. If you can't handle a bit of constructive criticism then you shouldn't be in business. Maybe you should display on your door, " we don't wear masks" and why. As some of us who have health issues do feel threatened by non mask wearing people. As for the being behind a screen, huh...lol...food was served to us from the side of the counter. Maybe have one person only answer the phone, and one person taking orders /serving. Not all of you need to have your masks off then.
Great food. Amazing crumbed fish, best in the lower south. Loaded fries reminiscent of the allsauces chips from home Great customer service, and even better burgers 10/10
Stopped here for tea on our way home from Alexandra to Invercargill. Best fish n chips I've had!!! Beautifully cooked blue cod and juicy bluff oysters. Nice thin crispy batter. Will definitely be back. Yum!!
