We have lived in Manningham for over 35 years and have always known EDSC to be a quality school in the area. Our family business employed students from the school, for part-time work, as it was just down the road from our shop. My father was always impressed with the kids from EDSC, saying they showed initiative and responsibility. Even more so than the kids he employed from private schools. When my daughter enrolled in the school years later, the one thing that stood out at parent/teacher interviews was the quality of the teachers. Like Serpell Primary (its feeder school), the teachers are exceptional and on par to private schools. It's not a pretentious Government school either. The uniform is basic, comfortable and affordable. Just as it should be in a public school. However, the results noticeably exceed the 'better dressed' schools in the area by a long shot... and this school has one of the best results of ANY Government school in Melbourne. This just reinforces my view that you can't 'dress-up' results - they just speak for themselves. Lastly, I am really impressed with the principal, John Roberts. He's always very professional in his demeanor. Whenever I've spoken with him, he came across as someone who strives to run a quality learning environment. I guess that shows in the end with exceptional facilities and curriculum supported with the hire of quality teachers. I should point out I've been a school councilor for many years and understand the challenges principals face when hiring staff. High performing teachers aren't just hired out of the blue. They have to WANT to apply for a job at a school to start with. And this needs to go to principals who attract these high-caliber teachers into a great school environment - and then keep them. If your child is not prepared to work hard to succeed at school, then EDSC may not be for them. But in all honesty, I wouldn't solely blame the school for their poor performance. However, if your child is driven and passionate about learning the teachers and environment at EDSC will help them greatly.

East Doncaster Secondery College is a great school in terms of educations. Alpha has led students to grow their potentials. However, I wish there was a test for people who didn’t get in, if they were good enough, they could level up in a subject into a higher grade.
