We had a dreadful experience with DC Law who were recommended by our estate agents - we were a bit naive there! We ended up with three different solicitors dealing with our case over the five months it took to sell our house, which meant that we were asked for the same documents repeatedly. Emails and calls constantly went unanswered and we had absolutely no idea what was going on for months. Things only picked up after we put in a formal complaint, after which our solicitor actually started responding to queries, but the whole process was made far more stressful than it needed to be. DC Law were the complete opposite to the small local firm we used to buy a property who were just brilliant, so I’d recommend looking for someone local!
Liam provided an excellent service from start to finish and if I could be sure I'd get Liam again, I would use this company again. The company as a whole is difficult to get hold of on the phone but I found that, even if I didn't receive positive confirmation, actions were undertaken in a reasonable time. DC Law need to work on this positive feedback aspect and a recommended improvement would be an email newsletter of the case and likely next actions, even if there were no new movements, rather than relying on the eWay portal and consumer trust that everything is in hand. I'm not deducting a star for this because they did everything they said they would, but it would be nice to have a more-detailed appraisal of progress or maybe I'm just an information addict.
Look carefully at the 5 star reviews and you will see that they have a very similar template - and interesting that DC law is only interested in replying to the 5 star reviews, no interest in the complaints. Our buyer is using this solicitor and they are completely impossible for them or our solicitor to contact - they have initiated a complaint against them. When they have been contacted they have raised resolved issues, showing they are clearly not able to dedicate the time to handle cases properly - likely due to incredibly high case volume. Would strongly recommend avoiding - saving a few bucks here is not worth the months of stress on an already difficult process!
I am so glad I read many reviews of this firm before starting my process with them. So like many others, I was recommended by my state agent to use this company to deal with the documents for my new house. I was comparing DC Law potential fees and another company fees and the prices were very different, so I emailed the solicitor from DC Law provided to me Mr Alan during Christmas and today I decided to call him. A lady answered the phone and I asked her if I could speak with my solicitor Alan. She asked my reference number and my surname and asked me what questions I had, so ultimately I ended up speaking with her instead of the solicitor I wanted to speak to. The quotes are also very different between this company and the other one. As an example a declaration for trust is 125£+VAT more expensive in this company than in another one that I will not mention the name. Concerning the price of this declaration the lady on the phone told me it is 275£+VAT and then I received an email with this price the email I believe was from another lady that works on this company. After 10-15 minutes of speaking with the lady on the phone I received an email from Mr Alan saying that the declaration of trust is 195£+ VAT. So, so far I spoke with at least 2 different people in this company when I just wanted to speak with one and I received 2 different prices for the same document which, to me, demonstrates some lack of communication between workers or some lack of understanding of their quotes. Furthermore the prices are much higher than the other company and after reading many reviews in here I definitely decided not to use this firm. The first impression is very important and to be fair I am not impressed with this company and I would not recommend it.
My mum completed and has moved but has not seen the funds circa 50k due to her from from sale of her home. No response via email and no one is answering her calls nor calling her back from her voicemail.. seems like fraud to me. Hope she gets her money plus the interest that you have gained from having the funds in your account.
I used DC Law for my sale and purchase, in particular Thomas Lee. He was brilliant. He was always on hand to explain anything I asked. He was exceedingly patient, even when I went into overdrive as we neared exchange. I would thoroughly recommend him.
I recently sold my house and used DC Law as my solicitor. The professionalism that I received was fantastic , Alan Bates my solicitor always kept me updated through the process and assisted with all the areas I needed support with. I will be recommending them to all my friends and family as it was a great experience.
DO NOT USE We had a shocking experience with this company. Had to call up to 10 times in a day to get any updates, emails were very rarely responded to, we had to send the same documents repeatedly as they were lost. We completed with less than 24 hours on our mortgage offer, after months of miscommunication. The last 2 months of the process was extremely stressful and they told us we had to chase the sellers solicitors and estate agents for updates. Which is quite literally their job. Please, find your own solicitors - don't go with recommended ones from the estate agents.
Avoid this company like the plague. I used to work for an Estate agents and we were told to recommend them, however DC LAW has cost me more money and business through their extremely poor service. I have had clients not called back in over 25 days !!! No answer on the phones no responses from Emails and that is from the managers as well as the staff. If I could give zero I would. I have had clients in tears on the phone to me as they can not get hold of their solicitor. If you want your sale to fall through then go with them but if you want a decent solicitor then go anywhere else but here.
Stressful experience with DC Law for the sale of my property, up until the final few weeks when Liam took over he is competent, communicative and moved things along-I’m really appreciative of him getting us to completion. They were appointed as part of the Purple Bricks package. 6 months of chasing by us, agent and purchase solicitor, daily phone calls rarely answered, messages left that were ignored, emails ignored, little and delayed progress, unable to speak to my actual solicitor, lied to about things outstanding, constant blaming of others. I had to do most of the work for them. We almost lost our next house and had to beg the builder for an extension which still didn’t encourage DC Law to sort themselves out. The last few months of my mum’s life were spent worrying about if the sale and purchase would fall through and she sadly passed 3 days before legal completion. Horrific experience with DC Law-I’d never use them again.
