My Patrol received their underbody steam clean and rustproofing paint a couple of months ago and I wanted to wait before posting any feedback so I could see how it performed over time. Initial thoughts; The steam cleaning seemed fairly thorough however I have since found when working on my vehicle bubbles that have formed because there is dirt underneath them that wasn’t cleaned away. Someone who understands basic mechanics needs to operate their paint gun because absolutely everything was coated underneath my car. This is both a positive and negative. The negative is that so many moving mechanical parts got coated that didn’t need to be and have the potential to cause damage. My swivel hubs, shocks, coils, suspension bushes, grease nipples and driveshafts got coated in their paint. Luckily I didn’t have expensive shocks because if I had thousands of dollars worth of shiny shocks that got painted over I’d be spewing. Since all suspension bushes were coated, the paint started rubbing against the rubbers and dried and cracked them. The swivel hubs were coated and the seal on them acted as sandpaper against their paint, which no doubt will shorten their lives. Grease nipples were coated, obviously making it difficult to grease them. Mechanical moving parts need not be painted. The positive is that I know everything else under my car that needed to be coated did get coated, and the inside of my chassis rails are now well protected. The paint appears to be adhering well to everything and only comes off with strong solvents, which is a positive when the car gets dirty. Overall, this business has a lot of potential because I don’t doubt that their rustproofing works, but they need to fix up the things I’ve mentioned so that only the parts needing rustproofing receive it.

These guys did my new Navara STX and very thorough. Yes it has overruns underneath as it is piled on to which in my opinion will protect it for the beach work it will do. Top rate After sales service when a couple of minor things needed a tidy up. If you want proper protection for your vehicle see these guys.

Picked up my Navara this morning and awesome job! The car is new as got it out of the showroom last week. As the review below, mine also has overruns underneath which I deem necessary when ensuring adequate coverage. I do a lot of beach work in my vehicles and I have full confidence in the work done. Not the most pretty job underneath but very thorough. The last vehicle I had did 7.5 years service with around 9 months total spent on the beach with no issues and over 240km on the clock. Recommended if you seek a true rustcoating. Service and after sales service by Kim second to none. Benny - Australian Surfcaster

After having many 4wd’s over the last forty years because of my love of beach fishing from Fraser Is QLD down to Evans Head NSW it was imperative that I had good rust prevention. I have tried many rustpoofers in the SE corner and their so called systems but have been disappointed with the outcomes each time which is so frustrating when you have such a huge investment in a quality 4wd. I could not be more than happy with Downey St Rustproofing & Detailing after having the complete Coupler-Tec & Rustproofing package done on my latest HiLux Ute over twelve months ago with plenty of beach work done. Their professionalism and care in doing a job well done on my pride and joy fishing vehicle is second to none but the continued followup’s are even more rewarding. I have to say Sybil and her team at Downey St Rustproofing really do care. By that I mean, when you have your pride and joy there for two or more days getting the full package you know that the treatment process has been done right. There is absolutely no shortcuts with this outfit, if anybody tells you that they can do it in a day, my advice is forget about it. Just so glad one of my fishing buddies told me about them, I am so grateful.

Took the Triton down to these guys for a "complete" rustproof. Couldn't believe what a fabulous job they did. It's never been cleaner, they sprayed the engine bay with 2 coats on the underbody (converter and bitumen) and also sprayed inside the panels. Excellent service and they fully explained all aspects of maintenance and care. Will defs be back for my after beach washes.
