The Department of Communities (Disability Services) is the State Government agency responsible for advancing opportunities and quality of life for people with disability.
We are the State Government agency responsible for ensuring West Australians with disability are supported. Meeting people’s individual needs and supporting them to achieve their goals is at the heart of our business. In doing this we use an individualised and relationship-based approach to ensure that each person is accessing the most appropriate supports and services for them.
To achieve positive outcomes for people with disability, we place great importance on having a close working relationship with the disability sector. This ensures strong, sustainable and diverse services are on offer to give people with disability genuine choice and control.
We also partner with community organisations, business and local, state and Commonwealth governments to promote greater access and inclusion in the broader community.
Our team of more than 1,500 people work to ensure that people with disability can access contemporary, diverse, high quality supports and services across Western Australia.
The Commission's vision is that all people live in welcoming communities that facilitate citizenship, friendship, mutual support and a fair go for everyone.
