It's an all right place. Nice hike up to Rocky Mountain. Sign says an hour and a half but it only took an hour to summit. Beautiful views of the lake from here. Used to be able to self contained camp here, but no longer sadly.

Diamond Lake Conservation Area is fairly nice but I recommend you continue hiking up the mountain for about 40 more minutes until you reach Lake Wanaka Viewpoint. While Diamond Lake Conservation is a nice place to stop, take photos and rest, it is nothing compared to Lake Wanaka Viewpoint!

Fairly easy walk to a pretty lake with shady surroundings and lots of birdlife. Moderately challenging walk up to the Lake Wanaka Lookout and some short but steep segments to climb up to the summit of Rocky Mountain. Great views all round.

Great hike to Rocky Mountain. Be prepared for the 248 steps to get to the lake viewing platform and then some steep switchbacks to get to the top. We'll work it though!

Great place to spend night for free near Wanaka. Arrive early to avoid disappointment as this place is quite popular. Perfect place to capture milky way at night.
