Just absolutely stunning trails and scenery, plenty of wildlife to spot as well. Could take it slow or enjoy a run, carpool or do a return trip. Make sure you pack enough water and snacks for the time your out the trails and don't leave a trace, just footsteps. Park entry fees are required for Deep Creek.
If you are thinking about it please read what I've typed. Started Deep Creek circuit Hike, anticlockwise, the walk was going well until it came to the first ocean crossing, after the first ocean crossing, climbed up the deep creek cove incline which was a steep terrain, be very careful, not sure if it is any easier going down, to be serious I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're scared of heights. The steep incline up was scary, I would say more like rock climbing in that section. Only attempt this on a dry day, expect a lot of challenging sections & hill climbs. 10.5 km but felt like more due to a lot of hills climbs for a total of just over 4 hours.
What a beautiful place to visit our native bush, the park is home to an abundance of wildlife, we saw kangaroos and many species of birds including the Superb Fairy-wren. Can’t wait to visit again and spend time soaking up the serenity and hiking on the trails.
A beautiful, quiet, treasured National Park in the south of SA. Great walking trails, stunning views, plenty of places to set up camp and enjoy the wildlife and flora. Staying in the middle of the National Park is phenomenal. Everything is well sign-posted and roads and tracks are as well. Already planning my next trip there.
Beautiful walking trails which take you exploring from secluded waterfalls to coastal beaches. The camp sites are kept well, a great spot to camp.
There is a gravel road to access the national park. If you’re planning to go to the blow hole beach, it requires a 4WD vehicle. There so much of nice views and walking paths. I if you wish to walk to the blow hole beach given you have no 2WD. You can park at the first parking you get then better carry walking stick or be dressed appropriately as the walk down the hill is a pretty steep one.
Wake to the beautiful sounds of the superb wrens singing their songs. Watch the sun rise out of the ocean and take a hike along the Heysen trail. Sleep under the stars and actually see the milky way!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
About 2 hour drive from the Adelaide city. There are some non sealed road in some of the part. therefore you need to be prepared for that, or plan your routine ahead, if you don't want to be on a non sealed road. Other than that, it is very easy to drive. The non seal road is also wide and flat, therefore not a big issue even without a 4WD as well.
Excellent place to spend the day. If you want to hike or drive a 4x4.
If you haven’t been here I highly recommend it. The stringy bark campsite is the best out of all three. So relaxing and beautiful. This is an excellent environment to really relax and enjoy what Australia has to offer. There are a lot of kangaroos, amazing wild life and going here will give you a taste of how untouched Kangaroo island is, without catching the ferry. There are diverse options as well, being able to walk through Forrest settings and 10 minutes drive away, being able to hike down to the water/ go whale watching. A 4x4 isn’t necessarily essential, but if it’s wet, it will help as there are hilly dirt roads through out. In regards to supplies, I would recommend taking everything you need and more water than less. The nearest place to drop into a shop is really Yankalilla. A must visit location for South Australia.
